And they want it overturned?

Glad FIFA didn't go all baseball on us. If you're going to play outdoors, play outdoors.

Every game doesn't have to be worthy of song, contested by teams of Brazilian skill with deft passing and feats of goalkeeping strength.  Whether it was "horrible soccer" or not it was far more memorable than a hundred "well-played" games.  Had there been any other result it would've been equally memorable.

Good for FIFA, good for US.  I imagine that Costa Rica is planning a doozy of a venue for the return trip.  A clearing in the center of a jungle, on a hot humid night in Sept? Should prove interesting.

Costa Rica actually has a brand-spanking-new national stadium, but I suspect that they will now plan our match for Saprissa, which is much more intimidating (the fans are right on top of you, while the new national stadium has a running track so the fans aren't close) and has, as you note, the horrid artificial turf.

Good Riddance. We have to play in 100 degree days (& humid) in our road games. That is actually unsafe (yes some of you could argue the Hoth game was slightly unsafe conditions). To bitch after-the-fact about a result is just petulant.

If FIFA had acquiesed, it would just lead to greater future problems.  Everytime it was too hot, or humid, or windy, or rainy, the losing team would complain and protest and demand a re-play.
