OT - F-ck Cancer Posbang Thread

Submitted by Cali Wolverine on
As many of u know (ad nauseum...sorry) my wife's cancer recently returned (on our anniversary) and we were forced to travel all over the country to seek out the latest treatment to fight her metastastic (stage 4) breast cancer that had spread to her lungs. We were able to get on an experimental trial for a new drug (an enzyme that attacks the cancer's ability to replicate), were fortunate to be selected to the group that received the drug, and within 6 weeks the cancer has reduced in size about 20-30%. My wife is a fighter and continues to amaze me as she fights through this. Since my wife and I are both Wolverines, it is a slow day, and the old voting system is back...I thought I would say FUCK (all) CANCER and go blue! And I wanted to give a special thank you to ALL of you that have left me very supportive posts (in the past and down below) AND thank you Brian and all of you at MGoBlog for giving me (and others that have to deal with these type of situations) an amazing diversion to clear my mind during an extremely tough year! EDIT: You guys and this community are unbelievable. Thank you (you have all received an up vote from me)! I can't believe how many people on here have been affected by cancer, both directly and indirectly...it is a horrible fucking disease. So FUCK CANCER (again) and props to all of the good people out there in the research community that are working to eradicate it and making it easier for people to live with cancer!

I lost my father-in-law, who was always more of a father than an 'in-law', to leukemia a year and a half ago. Going through it was tough but watching my husband lose his dad and my mother-in-law lose her husband that way was excruciating.

I will keep all of you in my prayers. You have my enduring admiration, sympathy and respect for the stories you've shared.

I try not to swear on message boards but... Fuck cancer.

Hate to hear the sad stories, but wish everyone well. Am very thankful my mom has beaten breast cancer twice. Lost my grandmother and friends along the way. Hey cancer - you suck! Oh, and fuck you too!

My wife had cancer as well back when we were first dating. She had colon cancer that had metastasized to her liver and lungs. The doctors at Houston medical center were amazing but only gave her 10% chance to make it. Lo and behold, she beat it and ended up having two kids, which the doctors thought would never be possible. Twelve years later and she is still going strong. So I'm with you - F-ck cancer and it can be beat. If you ask her how she did it she'll tell you that it was a combination of great doctors / medicine and never feeling like a victim. So many other people during treatments would feel like victims and feel sorry for themselves and we're very negative; my wife a always kept a positive mental attitude and always believed she would beat it. I really believe that helped.

In any event, best of luck to you and make sure you make the most of every day.

Good luck and all the best thoughts and prayers this holiday season and beyond - to you and all suffering from this awful, awful disease.

We have an ongoing battle with cancer at home, my wife is absolutely tremendous. Her strength, determination and fight make her a true hero. The kids know it. Inspiring. Lost too many people on both sides to this.

Never give up. Never.
