OT- Dwan Mathis (Oak Park QB): Home Grown Crootin'
247 Composite 4 star Dwan Mathis QB from Oak Park HS has had quite the past 2 years of recruiting:
February 2017: Commits to Iowa State
September 2017: Decommits from ISU, commits to Michigan State
June 2018: Decommits from MSU, commits to Ohio State
December 2018: Waivers his commitment from OSU because of the Justin Fields rumors, goes onto take Justin Fields spot in the Quarterback room in Athens and commits to Georgia.
Some good ole fashioned Crootin!

May be a trade. Hope to Fields heads to Norman.

Didn't OU just land a top QB? Rattler? (Not that it would necessarily keep Fields from OU-- hopefully)

Why? He couldn’t beat out Fromm. Maybe he should look at Central.

I think OSU picks up Hurts at the end of the day. If I am Martell I hit the road. Day is looking to replace him.

Martell and Hurts would be the same type of QB. If Haskins is any indication, Day doesn't need a running QB to do damage. In fact, I would say he prefers someone who is a danger to throw and we may actually see OSU go more air raid style. Of course Day is smart enough to adjust to his QB so if Martell is there, it will be similar to what we saw out of JT Barrett.

Martell did not look impressive in the limited snaps he had. It will be interesting to see where this goes.

Look- one thing I learned in the Marine Corps is to NEVER underestimate the enemy. ever. Martell is legit. Seriously legit. was the #2 dual threat QB in the nation behind Tua. Kid has a chip on his shoulder. We need to recognize what is in front of us and plan to take it head on, eyes wide open. Martell is a lot like JT Barrett but only a ton better running the ball. I for one would rather see an unproven freshmen like Baldwin win out and try to beat him with pressure.

OSU would not clear him academically to enroll early. (Hard to believe I know)
Georgia...uh uh....found a way *Jeff Goldblum in Jurassic Park voice*

So Fields is not going to OSU because of grades?
December 19th, 2018 at 10:25 AM ^
They wouldn't clear Mathis to enroll early. Dwan would have had to get his grades up and come in later. Fields is def still in play

Oh okay gotcha.

So Battle flips from OSU to Bama. Mathis flips from OSU to UGA. Dax flips back to us from Bama. I'm just saying....if you're Zach Harrison.....are you flipping a coin this morning?

I got you

You're supposed to have the Visionquest during your actual eligibility, if I am not mistaken. I could be incorrect, of course.

+1 for the Visionquest reference. That was a pretty crazy recruiting story.

IMO, Mathis will be playing at an in-state directional school within a couple years.
December 19th, 2018 at 10:34 AM ^
What will Fields do?
December 19th, 2018 at 10:38 AM ^
Pretty much moved up with every move.

Is he related to Dior Mathis? I remember that meltdown

Credit Marc Givier, Rivals:
Mathis actually tried to flip back to MSU this week and Dantonio turned him down. Mathis was upset that OSU could not sign and enroll him early due to academics. So, he called Georgia and due to the fact they believe Fields is leaving they took him.
On a side note: Fields has not left GA yet and still has to gain immediate eligibility if he does leave. OSU might be a preferred destination, but there are a lot of hurdles to clear. Oklahoma and others will get in on that action as well.

Since the other thread was deleted . . .

Ha, love it!
December 19th, 2018 at 12:15 PM ^
best case scenario is that Fields ends up at Oklahoma and OSU has to roll with Tate as the starting QB
