OT: Droid X

heard a lot about Droid X from my friend. He said that it's better than iphone and the best smartphone out in the market as of now. Too bad that it's so expensive, otherwise, I would have gotten one.
Perhaps but a friend of mine went to the X after being unsatisfied with iphone 4 (loyal iphone customer) and after less than a week went back to the iphone. Not saying the X wasn't as good, he just loves the iphone.
And yes the phone is huge which is nice for the size of the screen, but not so great for ease of carrying or trying to conceal from roaming eyes.
Can't ... stop ... laughing!!!
You have something against "huge?" OFF WITH YOUR HEAD!

I have a contract with verizon but it's with a family. If I were to still keep the contract, only without the family attachment, would it still be that cheap to buy Droid X? That would really save me a ton of money since I'm already planning on paying for the phone for myself since I'll be going to grad school.
I wonder if I can void the contract after buying droid x.

Got the X the day after it came out. It syncs up all of your contacts, which includes all of your Facebook/Myspace contacts. But, the cool thing is that you can link up the same person to multiple contacts. So if Joe Blow is on Myspace and Facebook and in your Phone book already, you can link the 3 under one listing. Also, the "Car Dock" feature is just awesome. Free GPS baby....and the camera: you can put effects like "black and white" and "sepia" on the picture before you even take it!

Addendum: Only people pretending to be in junior high still use myspace.

Myspace is like an abandoned carnival ground.

I have the Droid, and think it's too big. I can't imagine what it would be like to lug around the Droid X, which is even bigger.
But, I am excited about getting the Froyo update. Does it work well on your new phone?

Froyo is working swimmingly on my Droid... but it's also a Bugless Beast version.
Custom ROMs FTW!

I just got my Droid X today and it is unbelievable. I cannot put it down. If anyone is afraid of getting it cause of the size you'll get used to it. It really isn't that big
what she said... ;)
Settled on the HTC Droid Incredible. I went to Verizon with the intention of getting a X. The X and Incredible are the same price, so from that perspective, it made no difference. For me, it was the size of the device. I couldn't see myself trying to carry around a phone that large, though it does have some impressive features.
With the exception of the HD video capabilities, the Incredible is just as good, but with a slightly smaller screen area and total size. The screen also appears brighter with better color saturation. The virtual keyboard also seemed to respond better with fewer typing errors.
And, I have to agree with jvp123: the totally monthly cost for a Droid, which includes GPS service in the data plan, made it cheaper by $20/month than the BlackBerry. "FTW" literally and figuratively.

I read reviews of both, and battery life was better on the X, but just a bit. Probably due to the screen size on the X (i.e. making the longer battery life slightly moot).

I have battery life problems is because I can't put the X down. Constant use yields me something around 7 or 8 hours. That's on facebook, meebo/gchat, browsers, newsrob and in relatively poor areas of signal reception
