OT: Cool new shirt (bang bang) and #eating florida update

Submitted by MrSmith on

Hello everyone,

Here is a couple pictures from the Florida clean up day that we had this morning but first my cool new shirt with my new bling.

For those of you who don't know we have 2 community garden projects that is called #EATING project and we started with support from Mgoblogers so the pictures you are looking at are from the First garden in me and Martavious Odoms hometown Pahokee, Florida. It is called the H.O.P.E. Garden

Our new project here in Michigan is in Flint and we are putting a garden on an Alumni' grandma's old houses lot and also workign with 2 Elementary Schools to create gardening programs through the school year and summer to get the lead out their bodies.

You can read more and support Flint #EATING effort by coming to help and at our gofundme at https://www.gofundme.com/feedflint (or feedflint.org)

I'm in Pensacola, but have friends from Pahokee. I'm glad you made something happen that is so good for the community. Then you brought it up north. Staying hungry to keep people fed!

hit. Too bad they don't show the play earlier when you lit him up and he limped away hurting. I must say you were pound for pound the toughest Wollverine I ever saw play. Topping my favorite all time Wolverine and fellow Floridian, AC

Hey Mr. Smith. far be it from me to tell someone else how to live their life, but have you considered pursuing a Master's degree in social work? It seems like with your passion for helping people it might be a god fit for you. U of M MSW alums include D Garner and Warde Manual, among many others

MrSmith, I got a chance to meet you after a game this fall with my brother. We walked down stadium with you and parted ways at Lucky's Market. Just wanted to say that it is awesome the work that you do and it's always great to hear about great work being done by great people. We are all so fortunate to have had you in a Michigan uniform. Some things are bigger than football. Go Blue, Deuce, for life!

I love this. I love the goal of bringing green, healthy, back-to-nature gardening to urban areas. This is healthy for all those involved on multiple levels!

We're really proud of the work You and Odoms are doing, Vincent. You are an example of what makes us proud to be part of the Michigan family.

Mr Smith. Wonderful work and great shirt. I'm on the board for a MI based non-profit that has successfully worked with a school district to put community gardens at schools. The kids plant, maintain and make meals from their plots. If you'd like to compare notes we're always willing to share.

Again, great work.

Any way promotion of the #EATING GoFundMe can get upgraded to a diary? The last thread was buried in the board after about a day, plus the work being done is certainly Diary-worthy. Even better if added as a sticky to the dropdown menu while the GoFundMe is active.

I think it's awesome that you are doing such a great cause for your community and bringing Michigan fans closer to the cause to help out. Keep doing great things, Vince.
