OT: CBB Coaches You Would Play For
An interesting question posed earlier, but I'm a basketball coach so I spend most of time thinking about this question for basketball. Mine in no particular order:
Beilein
Coach K
Fred Hoiberg (though he may be coming to my Bulls soon)
Gregg Marshall
Billy Donovan
HM: Mark Few, Roy Williams, Cal/Pitino (they may be slimeballs, but if you can play you want to play for them), Shaka. Larry Krystowiak because he might be slightly insane. Rick Majerus would have been awesome.
John Beilein
+1
Beat me to it
I've been missing your mullet.
Beilein
Gregg Marshall
Shaka Smart
Mike Brey
Sean Miller

Kim Barnes Arico
Gino Auriemma
Pat Summitt (in the day)
Bacari Alexander
...or pretty much anyone, because if I were playing I'd be 10 years (heh!) younger
you'd definitely be in my rotation, sugar.
First ever MGoCouple?
withthe same sort of passion that I hate K/Duke. Smug to the point of displaying some weird emotional void.
I kind of do too...but given that oppotunity, I would play for him, and no longer dislike him.
I have an unjustifiable dislike for Sean Miller. I can't explain it and I have no basis for it. Can anyone talk me down off this ledge or am I right? I need help understanding this. He seems too slick for his own good but I can't put my finger on it. I believe I'm lumping him in my mind with Calapari and Pittino (Sr).
I like Tim Miles as well.
Miles needs to learn to flush though.
No particular order: Roy W, Coach K, Billy Donovan, Shaka Smart, Sean Miller, Fred Hoiberg, Calipari, Bill Self, Beilein, Izzo, Greg Marshall and Mark Few...just to name a few...lol
No standards?
John Wooden
AND/OR
Bobby Knight
1. Kryzewski
2. Few
3. Donovan
4. Marshall
5. Smart
If I could actually in fact play basketball at a level which could not be described as "comical", I would probably go with:
1) John Beilein
2) Gregg Marshall
3) Steve Alford (just for kicks, for one game to see what that experience is like)
4) Mike Krzyzewski (not a Duke fan at all, but intellectually there would be interest due to name alone)
5) Sean Miller
Not a pleasant experience. Generally a dick and kind of slimy.
Just to experience both ends of the spectrum.
Beilein
Miles
Collins
Ammaker
Donovan
1. Calapari. If your an elite recruit he is your dream coach, you get to spend a year focusing on basketball with no school responsibilities, getting plenty of spending cash, and you can get any girl at kentucky you want.
But in reality I think I would be mature enough to pick Beilein becuase he builds players into the best version of themselves, but honestly I'm not sure.
The problem with that is all the girls at Kentucky are jello brains

John Beilein: guard oriented, put me in the NBA please, long live the 3 pointer
Sean Miller: put me in the NBA please
Fred Hoiberg: long live the 3 pointer
Dana Altman: guard oriented, long live the 3 pointer
Lon Kruger: let it rain
Brad Stevens (if he comes back)
Stevens? Big time pro coaches never come back to college.
I've heard that before, lmao

the Warriors are still in play...
1. John Beilein
2. Rick Pitino
3. Coach K
4. Shaka Smart
5. Archie Miller(Dayton coach)
Beiheim , kelvin Sampson , Bruce pearl , bill self , and Quinn Snyder ! Show me the agents
1. John Beilein
2. John Calipari
3. Ron Hunter
4. Kevin Ollie
5. Mike Krzyzewski
6. Roy Williams
976. Bo Ryan
977. Tom Izzo
978. Tom Crean
Seems like he doesn't know what he's doing... Obviously I would rather play for Michigan, but Izzo at 977 is a ridiculous ranking for sure
979. That guy from Rutgers that they're always bringing up on Real Sports

He's still ahead of Crean.
EDIT: Also forgot Bob Huggins. I'd put him second behind Beilein.
John Belein, Tony Bennett, Gregg Marshall, Mark Few, Shaka Smart
Jim Valvano, Johnny Orr, Pete Carril, Bob Knight, Rollie Massamino
Don't get all the Shaka Smart love. He's by far the most overrated coach in the country IMO.
100% agree.
Crean
Izzo
All the way.
Beilein
Roy Williams
Sean Miller
Kevin Ollie
Ron Hunter
Said no one ever
and Lute Olson.
Crean or Izzo. So I could make their lives miserable. I'm not very good at basketball.
Steve Fisher! Come on, maybe not the best coach of all-time, but the stories alone would be enough to fill up 4 years. And, he's done a great job at SDSU. A guy who I love, that is way underrated is Pat Chambers at Penn St. They never have the talent to match up with most of the Big 10, but they always compete so hard, and he seems to get more production out of less than anyone. Of course, they almost always play UM tough, but they had so many single digit losses this year. Who knows how much patient the AD will have with 2-3 win Big 10 seasons, though.
