(OT) Bad Idea: Rename the Post-Season Hockey Awards

Gotta love throwing out tradition for "mainstream tastes." Oh Todd Dewey of the Las Vegas Review-Journal, what else have you written to sell papers?
That is just plain stupid. The Gordie Howe hat trick award is also retarded. So, the player who fights and scores gets an award? Yeah, great trophy.I don't find that to be prestigous at all.
That was awful. Disgusting. Todd Dewey can eat a big bag of shit.
We need to bring back the Norris, Smythe, Adams, and Patrick Divisions. Members of the Prince of Wales and Clarence Campbell Conferences. This is still hockey, right? Should we get rid of the Stanley Cup and present the champions of the NHL with the Skoal Zubaz of Victory™?
"Skoal Zubaz of Victory" FTW. Best trophy ever.
Is this a joke? It will never happen.
I can only hope that the whole thing was meant as a joke, especially since the Stanley Cup playoffs just got the highest ratings in years (still World's Tallest Midget) just the way they are.
I just read some of the comments from the original post. I believe 24/25 said Fail. And I completely agree.
Besides, even if they ever did change the name of the trophies, I still think most people wouldn't know what it was for. Sure, they'd know who Gordie Howe but they still wouldn't know what the award was actually for.
Personally, I think that they just want to rename all the trophies so that they can call someone "The Great One" every year after he wins the "Gretzky Award".
it's worse than a "jump to conclusions" mat.
Thumbs way down.
Someone in the comments wrote: "I dont like the idea as presented here. BUT, they did change the division names and that did help mainstream the NHL." It did?
I like the old division names. I would be all for changing them back - or changing them and "modernizing" them with recent stars (Gretzky, Lemieux, Orr, Yzerman [too soon?], Howe, etc).
