OT: Back to work Negbang Thread

Submitted by The Mad Hatter on

Back to work after a long weekend of beautiful weather, overeating, and yard work.  It looks like it's going to be another gorgeous day outside and, like many of you, I'm stuck in this damn office.

Also my wife and kids have strep throat, which means that I probably have it too.  Fuck.

Neg away.

I was all prepared to neg you, and neg you hard, but after reading that pic that was one of the funniest things I've seen in awhile so I'm forced to upvote you, sorry.

Met so many of my long-time friends through work. Miss those days of planning for the weekend and the fact that with retirement brings people heading to all different parts of the state, country and in certain cases, leaving the country for a 5 to 6 month period to escape MI winters. The last one is nice. The others not so much.

Think I might return to work, if only of a pt basis. Keep my mind stimulated and use it as a form of social interaction. But yes, certainly do remember coming back in after a 3 day weekend. Those were often transformed into four day weekends by using an alternate work schedule which consisted of 8 9 hour days and one 8 hr, leaving every other Friday off. That was an extra 5 weeks pr year.  After hitting the 8 hr per pay period mark with 10 years of service, amounted to another 5 weeks. So although the private sector paid a hell of a lot better and actually they got more days off as to holidays, etc., there were benefits associated with the government that made it tolerable.

I caught some kind of summer cold from my wife and child in the midst of a pretty heinous early season heat wave. I can't remember the last time I was this sweaty and congested at the same time.

i walked into the office today, and was greeted by my douchebag manager, reminding me of status reports to do today. god i hate corporate life. the sanitzed offices, florescent lights, minimally interesting people. i'm looking out the window, longingly at the passing metro, and while i'm not suicidal, i'm thinking rather than doing these status reports i should donate my body to the rats living in the metro. just huck myself in front of a train. the tracks should mash me up pretty good, tenderizing the meat for the rats, seasoning me with track grease too.

that act would have an impact on the world, even if its just temporary nourishment for rats. these status reports? not so much...

I've been off nearly 2 months on strike and it was FANTASTIC!  I'm hoping to retire early and this was a preview for my wife and I.  We truly enjoyed being together and did things we haven't done since before and early in our marriage.  Not just those things either ;)
