OT: Away Ticket Recommendations (Iowa)

Submitted by GoBlueOval on

I'm on a mission to see a Michigan game in every B1G Ten Stadium. This year I will be hitting Iowa. In previous years, I've used Stub Hub. Do any of you have recommendations for the best way to buy tickets to away games?

As I will be traveling, I will not risk scalpers right before the game. I want ticket in hand before boarding the plane/making the road trip.

I will be going to the game, the Iowa ticket office has them going on sale at the beginning of July (no set date yet) but they are selling them for $85 as well. Should be much cheaper than the stubhub price. Also if you have not booked a hotel yet I would recommend doing that ASAP, as pretty much every hotel in Iowa City is already booked for that weekend.

The train runs regular routes.  You can park in the field lots by the hotel, or just up the street at the Coral Ridge Mall, which is a short walk of a cpl city blocks.  The train is pretty decent and drops off/picks up right near the stadium.  I took my daughter a few years back to see Denard (wish the outcome and the weather had both been better).  The train is worth it, getting in and out of the stadium area is a PITA.

Agreed. Prime time game, Iowa has a good team, Michigan is the glamor opponent... as the poster above said, find the on-sale date and buy face. Like, right away.

It is possible that Iowa will be mediocre enough that demand for the game is soft. Possible, but not likely. And there is a really, really good chance that Michigan will be highly ranked going into that game--even a .500 Iowa team is going to draw a rabid fanbase for that.

We are on the same mission. I never buy with the Alumni on-sale because I don't want to sit in the top corner of any stadium. I either buy directly from the visiting school or on Stubhub. I usually buy way too early and end up seeing tickets behind the Michigan bench for really cheap the day before the game or the day of. I'm going to Iowa game and I'm going to be really patient about getting tickets this year.

I even bought season tickets to UConn football just to secure my Michigan game seats. It's kind of funny becuase I get call from them each year trying to get me to renew. I tell them each time I only bought them for the Michigan game. They assured me that I wasnt the only one.

Find an Iowa friend and have them help. They are AWESOME fans and even better people. I went to the game 2 or 3 years ago and they were great. It was FREEZING that day.

I didn't have the same experience. Went in 2003 with my dad and a buddy. We were walking from our car to the stadium and tailgating Iowa fans were throwing full cans of beer from the top of the parking deck at the Michigan fans walking by. An older lady in front of us got hit in the head and was bleeding. Cops stood nearby and watched, doing nothing to help.

i know that parking area you are talking about.  they just didn't throw a UM fans.  they thought it was funny to just throw full beer cans across the lot.  frat boy types.  i told my iowa buddy that the U won't allow this for long.  sure enough, tailgaiting/alcohol was banned in that parking lot soon after.

$150/each for visitor side 10ish-yard line (doesn't really say before buying) row 4. I probably paid a little too much but I'm traveling a ways to get there so it was worth to make sure I have good seats. Should be a great game!

Does anyone have advice for a poor sap making his first trek to the shoe this fall?  Hotel is already booked.  Only thing I need to know is everything else.
