OT: Any Mgobloggers going to Bonoroo this year?

Submitted by michiganfanforlife on
Check out this lineup. http://www.myspace.com/bonnaroo Booyah. I go every year and this will be probably one of the best. Stevie Wonder, Dave Mathews, Kings of Leon, Tenacious D, Weezer, Lez Claypool, Jay-Z, Galactic, The Flaming Lips (playing the Pink Floyd album Dard Side of the Moon), and the list goes on and on. Any of you going to be there?

I wish these music festivals would only invite musicians...Who, you know, play instruments and sing. Who wants to here someone rap about Beyonce, fur coats, and diamonds? I seriously think that most rappers aspire to become Liz Taylor.

However the fur coats and diamonds comment was directed to Jay and most of the other rappers that are out there these day. Ever seen a live rap concert? I guess if you like crappy sound quality, mumbled raps, and some friend of said rapper repeating words that the rapper just said...To each his own.

I don't think the headliners are as good this year, although stevie wonder should be sick. The bands during the day and thursday night should be unbelievable though. I'm really excited for the Xx.

I went last year. It was one of the best things I've ever done. It's a ton of work, though, if you've never gone... No running water or electricity, spending 15 hour days without drinking enough water or pissing so you can be front row for your group of choice, 95 and humid, sunburnt and choking down all the dust the crowds kick up... Mmm... But last year really was good to me. All of my favorite bands were there, and I saw all of them front row, and met many of them too. The Mars Volta, Portugal. The Man, Coheed and Cambria, Grizzly Bear, Animal Collective, Nine Inch Nails, Phoenix, MGMT... That will probably never be beat for me.

I swore to myself after about an hour in the sun that I would buy one if I ever went back. My survival strategy last summer involved making friends with the security guards, so they would pass us a bottle of water every couple of hours.

coachella and sasquatch have better lineups this year but ive never been to bonnaroo so i think im going to make that trip. the only real knock there is on lollapalooza is that there isn't camping (obviously can't be fixed in downtown chicago). ive been there a couple times and it would be a lot better if you didnt have to go back to your car or train and go to a hotel. camping makes everything a way better experience.

I was able to go in '03 and '04...had a blast both times. But I probably won't go back; just too much heat, and we always got stuck camping a Texas mile from centeroo. All that walking past stankin' hippies really wears on one's soul. It really is kinda sad to see all those spaced-out lot rat kids that basically live on the hippie tour circuit. Just blank stares of young kids who have done waayyyyy too many drugs.

For about 25 bucks you can buy a chair with a shade top at Target. The Camelback is a great idea, but an even better one is just pony up for the extra cash and go VIP. This way you are 10 mins max from centeroo, you can bring anything you want in like water, beer, etc... (they don't search you like they do to the masses) and when you run out you just head back to base camp. Being so much closer is invaluable to a better Bonoroo experience.
