I didn't know there was a trend. Yes, it sucks and I feel bad for the families/victims but there's nothing one can do about it. I was on campus at PSU when that crazy bitch started shooting people. I realized then that there's nothing you can do about crazy people if they mean to do you harm. It's just how it is and I hope it doesn't sound cold. I'm fairly certain there is way more shootings in cities everyday that aren't national news.

I'd argue it isn't a trend, while at the same time not being ultra rare. Colleges are a high stress enviroment for a lot of people and sadly different people handle a nervous breakdown in different ways. My condolences to everyone involved in this.

This happened in the building that I have all my math classes in and I was in the building just three hours before the shooting. I would just like to ask everyone to keep the victims in their thoughts and prayers and would like to thank the Huntsville PD for there quick response. This is terrible for UAHuntsville and the city of Huntsville. I have a friend whose advisor is the suspect in custody and she said that she was not surprised at all that this women did that. She said that she was "unstable".

It is just really surprising because nobody expects this sort of thing to happen around them. It was really scary becuase my friend had been exchanging emails with her(non-school related) not too long ago. He said that she was too smart for her own good, and didn't know how to deal with the real world.

Apparently, she has a violent past. She shot and killed her brother in '86, but it was ruled an accident. I find it hard to believe a shooting is accidental when three shots were fired.
