OT - Another Book Thread
Been looking through Amazon reviews for 2 days and can't settle on anything. Looking for non-fiction and not political. I like Bios, business, sports, etc. Pretty much anything "real" and interesting. My last reads are:
Shoe Dog
Can't Hurt Me
Elon Musk
Bitcoin Billionaires
The Phenomenon
Moonwalking with Einstein was one I read recently that was light and fascinating. A Terrible Thing to Waste by Harriet Washington I found informative.
Are Prisons Obsolete by Angela Davis
Compton Cowboys by Walter Thompson Hernandez
Nonfiction:
Failure is Not an Option - Gene Kranz
Riding Rockets - Mike Mullane
Don't Give Up, Don't Give In - Louis Zamperini & David Rensin
Fiction:
The Martian - Andy Weir
Jericho Rd - Thomas Volz (personal bias for a debut novel)
Homegoing and Americanah are both good for giving some perspective on black life in Africa and America while being good stories.
Imbeciles: The Supreme Court, American Eugenics, and the Sterilization of Carrie Buck by Adam Cohen
It lays out a massive failure by society and the supreme court that isn't as well known as Dred Scott, Korematsu, Plessy v Ferguson or Bowers v Hardwick. Also among those decisions the Buck ruling was never over turned. It is fascinating but it made my blood boil
