OT: 2016 WR Recruit Donnie Corley Game Winning Grab

Submitted by SwitchbladeSam on

Class of 2016 Michigan recruit Donnie Corley snagged a game winning touchdown on the last play of the game Friday night for King to win the Divison 2 state title.  Michigan St is still leading but he did visit this past weekend.  He is set to make his decision Dec 8th. King was down 4, had to go 95+ yds for a TD in under 40 seconds and had no timeouts. That was the best game winning drive that I have ever been on hand for. Go Crusaders and Donnie Go Blue!

I don't know man. I'm pretty sure you're not supposed to let the best WR in the state get behind you on a last second hail mary. The bottom line is he let that happen. I'm just saying that it's got to be tough to be the one that it happened against and at some point maybe he'll be able to turn it into a cool story he can tell his grandkids. You know years from now when they're reminiscing about all of the greats to wear the number 1 at Michigan.

My Romeo Bulldogs smoked Cass Tech to win their first-ever state championship. And I believe Romeo only has 1 guy with a D1 offer, to Western. Really a case of David beating Goliath there.

[]_[] has a pretty futile history with just a handful of playoff appearances, no playoff wins and just two undefeated seasons.

If they got a coach that was committed to changing the culture and making football a priority, I think they could be great. Problem is is they're stuck in between Eisenhower and Stevenson, schools with established football histories despite Utica being one of the oldest high schools in the state and in a city that predates MI being a US state.

Crazy finish.  Sat on the Lowell side of Ford Field.  All game long felt that Lowell had the better "team" and better system.  Twice Lowell got MLK to jump offsides for big first downs on a "shift" play where the line doesn't get set then shifts to a swinging gate formation.  MLK was just too fast on the outside for Lowell DBs.  MLKs biggest plays came from running one short underneath route while the rest of the wideouts went deep and getting the ball to the underneat guy in space.  That final play was a microcosm of the game.  Lowell did everything right, they were in the right position, they just couldn't match the speed and athleticism of MLK.  Hell of a game.

That being said I'm shocked that Armani Posey only has Kent State as an offer.  I thought his passes were crisp, accurate, and well placed.  He has a beautiful deep ball and even though he missed a couple of deep passes they were placed exactly where you would want them, between the WR and the sideline.  I don't think he is what Harbaugh is looking for, but I'm shocked he doesn't have a full suite of MAC offers.  He is listed as an OLB by 247, and a ATH by Rivals and mgoblog but I see him as a QB.  He didn't come across as a great dual threat QB in the game, but that could be attributed to Lowell's great run defense.  I see him as a smaller Devin Gardner since he is only 6'1" and between 190 and 200 lbs.  Is there something about this kid that I don't know about?  Like off field issues, grades, etc.

I feel bad for that DB. He was in great position but couldn't jump high enough to get the deflection. Lowell played way better but couldn't match up with the athletes on MLK and MLK got so many big plays to stay in the game.

These three athletic guys will all be very good D1 players. Posey took over as QB week 2 in the season ( I heard he was a WR before with little Qb experience). Great athletes are just athletes regardless of what position they play.

The other thing about King is the number of kids who transferred from other high schools. Felt bad for the Red Arrows since they were not as fast but otherwise superior ball players (and probably had no transfers).

Division 3 Chelsea met the same sort of fate versus Orchard Lake St Marys, who had a smaller enrollment, but crazy talent who moved to go there.

There should be a separate classification for athletic college prep schools, or they should all play D1 where they belong talent wise.

and he's going to be a very good CFB player, IMO. Not just a Burbridge type guy but major impact by his RS Fr-So year and it could be on either side of the ball. I think he may be a better DB. Sad as he grew up a huge UM fan.
