OSU Nike Pro Combat Uni's on Eleven Warriors
Eleven Warriors has the sketches of what the Uni's are supposed to look like. Man, I dont know about you guys but as much as I loved/still love Nike, I am glad we dont have them messing around with our tradition. Here's the link

Why didn't you post this in one of the other threads about this subject?
They don't look really bad, but I am not a fan.

I was in the process of writing the post and decided to call my OSU friend and give him a hard time and letting him know how awful I thought they were. This then made getting the information down take me a few more minutes than expected. So, therefore, I didnt see the other thread that had begun.
Not really a funny story at all but you get the picture

Ic well as long as you were giving an OSU fan some shit about it then. But IMO they are not the worst looking uniforms Nike has done.
September 1st, 2010 at 9:56 AM ^
Maybe this is one of those things im a major traditionalist about but, I wouldnt want our uni's ever to be messed with. Away ones? Yeah tweak with them. The Game though?
I dont think they are the worst looking thing in the world but the concept behind them and what they really stand for (MONEY!!! FOR NIKE!!!) just disgusts me.

And here I thought the uniforms couldn't be more ugly than last year's version.

Those suck. You won't even be able to see the blood on Pryor's uni after a few visits from Mike Martin.
September 1st, 2010 at 9:37 AM ^
Maybe they should try the "jailhouse look" in honor of their 2003 national championship.
September 1st, 2010 at 9:42 AM ^
I don't know, I don't think they look that bad. Nike has done a lot worse with the Pro Combat stuff.
September 1st, 2010 at 11:38 AM ^
Absolutely. These are much better than what I had previously imagined. The numbers are wretched (but let's be honest, that totally breaks everything), but the rest is simple - scarlet & grey with a little block O. Reminds me of our uniforms.
We'll have to wait and see if the camo base layer is visible through the uniform.
September 1st, 2010 at 2:48 PM ^
Honestly, I kind of like the numbers. And they're exactly what they wore in 1942. Which is what they were going for here.
Every other school in the Pro Combat thing is getting ugly, nasty, space-age colors and fonts and motifs. At least Ohio State stayed traditional, and actually did a true throwback uniform. There's nothing wrong with that, and I don't see any problem with having it be for the Michigan game.
September 1st, 2010 at 9:46 AM ^
Alright. My feelings on Ohio State. I want to beat them every year. I hate it when they win. And I love it when they lose. As a school and program though, I respect that they are our rivals. The rivalry is the greatest in sports. I respect that they have a great thing going in Columbus right now and are the most consistant program in the Big 10 right now.
That being said. It disgusts me that they choose to lessen The Game (or the game however you want to type it) by allowing nike to totally redesign their jerseys for our game two years in a row.
The Michigan v. Ohio State game is supposed to be the winged helmet vs. the buckeye stickers. It's supposed to be a winged-Charles Woodson fighting with a David Boston who is covered in buckeye stickers. It's what makes the game send chills down your back.
Nike tries to create tradition. You can't create tradition overnight. Tradition isn't supposed to be marketed. This sucks. I hate this so much. Win or lose against OSU, I want them to be wearing their grey helmets with stickers on them. I want the tradition.
September 1st, 2010 at 9:48 AM ^
I don't know how you can invoke the tradition card on this when these are basically the same uniforms they wore in 1942. Yeah, it's weird to see them out there in a red helmet, that's for sure, but at least Nike didn't outfit them in the space suits they've been doing for other schools through this program. At least it's in line with a historical uniform.
September 1st, 2010 at 10:08 AM ^
I just did a quick search of the helmet history... I was going to say they just need to wear the damn helmets Woody had them wear his whole career... but apparently as recently as 1967 they had red helmets...
You can find the helmet history here.
I still don't like it. I think it's ruining The Game by making it a cash grab and wearing the jerseys for the Michigan game. Wear the freaking jerseys against Miami. Or find another adidas school. Just not against us.
I just am ready to see this again.

...the combat uni's are going to be plaid.

No. Seriously. Houndstooth Checker to "Honor Bear Bryant"

When does our contract with Adidas end because I've got a feeling that Dave "I'm all about the money" Brandon would love this kind of sacreligious crap.
September 1st, 2010 at 10:02 AM ^
Does anyone else think we will go back to Nike after the Adidas contract is up? I'm only game as long as long as their is a clause that states specifically...
Uniform Clause:
Section 1.a. "DO NOT FUCK WITH OUR UNIFORMS FOR ONE OF YOUR RETARTED GIMMICKS NIKE. "
Section 1.b. "If said party fucks with uniforms said U of M athletic department will reign down on you with Lazer Eyes and cast the entire state of Oregon into oblivion for your fucking stupid ideas of messing with tradition."
Or something along those lines
September 2nd, 2010 at 2:26 AM ^
I think it's pretty retarded when Nike retarts their gimmicks. Are they not tarty enough Nike?
September 1st, 2010 at 10:04 AM ^
Perhaps you would be informed that we make more money with Adidas than any Nike school does with their uniform and outfitting contract. Oh, and Adidas hasn't screwed up our uniforms. We're doing okay.
September 1st, 2010 at 11:30 AM ^
But when the contract comes up and Adidas either decides 1) we've been worth their investment or 2) we aren't, DB is going to be the biggest factor in who gets our follow up contract. If Adidas continues to pay more than Nike then by all means he'll stay with that but if Nike matches Adidas money and DB has the chance to bitch slap another Michigan tradition I wouldn't put it past him.
September 1st, 2010 at 9:50 AM ^
That is all.
September 1st, 2010 at 9:51 AM ^
hate me if you want, but our best jerseys were with nike in my opinion. understandably the move to adidas was a no brainer in terms of school benefits and nike making changes. however, adidas needs to do something about how bad they fit. the uniforms tops seem to get wrinkled or bunched up, and no one has played a down yet. just appears that the quality is lacking. also not a huge fan of how maize has become hi-liter maize. hopefully they will hear my rant and all imperfections are buffed out by saturday.
September 1st, 2010 at 11:24 AM ^
uh are you talking about the practice jerseys? because those are most definitely not indicative of what the unis that they wear on saturday will look like.
September 1st, 2010 at 12:38 PM ^
these
compared to these
September 1st, 2010 at 9:54 AM ^
I'm confused at the idea that Nike is ruining tradition by remaking jerseys from 1942.....
September 1st, 2010 at 9:54 AM ^
Look like used tampons......
September 1st, 2010 at 9:57 AM ^
No matter what they wear, they're still the same illiterate fucktards.
September 1st, 2010 at 10:27 AM ^
all there is to say
September 1st, 2010 at 10:37 AM ^
is so no one will easily recognize who is getting destroyed that weekend by Michigan.
September 1st, 2010 at 3:38 PM ^
Maybe they should wear pants made of Buckeye wheat, with camouflage tops and red helmets.
September 2nd, 2010 at 10:54 AM ^
Somebody needs to inform J Leman.

8. When the flag is displayed in a manner other than by being flown from a staff, it should be displayed flat, whether indoors or out. When displayed either horizontally or vertically against a wall, the union should be uppermost and to the flag's own right, that is, to the observer's left. When displayed in a window it should be displayed in the same way, that is with the union or blue field to the left of the observer in the street. When festoons, rosettes or drapings are desired, bunting of blue, white and red should be used, but never the flag.
