OSU To Camp In FL?

Submitted by raleighwood on

I was driving home from work in Jacksonville today and local sports talk radio was talking about two things:

1.  Michigan coming to FL for Spring Break - The consensus was that it's a great idea but they thought that it would be closely watched for compliance and/or Title 9 issues.  No real complaints about the incursion.

2.  OSU coming to JAX in June for a three day camp - They prefaced this one by asking which Northern team would you not want to see coming to town......and OSU was the unanimous answer.  The hatred for Urban Meyer runs deep in UF fans (and probably FSU fans , too).

The OSU camp has not been confirmed but they named dates and a location so the planning seems to be pretty far along.

They seemed to think that Harbaugh got the ball rolling and these types of events (camps and trips) will continue to grow in the future.  He's had quite an impact in one year!

Edit:  To clarify, this is a summer camp for HS students......just like Michigan did last summer throughout the country.  Coaches will be there but OSU players will not be (at least not as a full unit).

They hosted a camp at FAU last year as well. So this isn't new to this year.

FWIW, this is a fairly strategic location. Near enough for Orlando and east coast kids in Central FL to join, and around where a bunch of OSU targets are, including Shaun Wade.

Delaney is a magician just like Sankey. When he says things like that it's to draw attention to that so he can do something else. There's no way in hell one conference would ever do that without everyone else being on board. They're all playing chess, it's one big game. Sankey really doesn't give a fuck about Michigan practicing in Florida. He just needs something to bitch about when other conferences are attacking the SEC for other reasons.

I'm on board with this. We need support from the other schools/coaches. Declare full on war against the SEC. You don't beat the bully by backing down when they get a little upset, you stand toe to toe with them and challenge them on their turf. Harbaugh is stepping up, we need others to follow suit. As much as I hate to say it, OSU kicking Bamas ass last year did a ton for B1G respectability. We backed it up this year by kicking UFs ass in Florida. Circle the wagons, rest of the B1G, and let's get after the ess eee see!

How can UF fans possibly hate Urban Meyer? He won two titles there. I'd be thankful if Jim won us two titles, even if he went on to another job. Winning national titles is priceless.
