not only did the two missed kicks cost Boise of playing in a bcs game but it also cost the university and conference millions of dollars in revenue from playing in the bcs game and in merchandise sales

I have nothing important to say besides this:  HOLY PANTS!  That was such a fun game to watch, regardless of the WAC(ky) teams.  More upsets to come tomorrow.....

Sorry folks, but listening to Michigan fans revelling in a WAC team's loss the night before The Game just makes me sad.  I guess it is just a sign of how far we have fallen.  Sure, both of those WAC teams would hang 50 points on Michigan at this point, and we are not certain whether or not our coach will be back next year, but at least those overachieving folks from Idaho won't get to play in a big game.

At least you are in good company.  Every toothless yokel in the SEC agrees with you.  So you have that going for you.

Sorry about being so bitter, but people always like to think that they are "for the little guy" until the little guy gets good, and then the little guy is "too big for their britches."  Hooray, we get to see the best SEC team that money can buy play Team Nike for the championship.  That will be original.

Feel free to neg away.

I would be cheering for BSU's demise if Mighigan was 1-10, 5-6 or 11-0.  People cheering against a team they do not like has literally nothing to do with Michigan's status.

Also, why is "being for the little guy" some sort of baseline for acceptable behavior?  Isn't it equally acceptable to root for the teams you feel are more talented or deserving to get the title shot?  Even if your post made any sense in the abstract, it definitely doesn't make sense as applied to this situation - Nevada was the clear underdog and people were here rooting them on.  Boise was the favorite and got upset.

TL;DR - your post failed on no fewer than 3 levels.

You don't have to be for the little guy, but the level of hatred throughout the country for a WAC team is pretty remarkable.  Reasonable people can disagree about rankings, but people were celebrating the loss, not talking about their merits as a national title contender.  Their kicker probably feels like jumping off of the bell tower in Boise, and people are celebrating his meltdown.  My post was not classy, but the irrational hatred bothers me.

Also, people were not rooting for Nevada yesterday because they were pulling for the underdog, they were rooting against upstart BSU because they wanted to make sure that there was zero chance of them playing in a BCS game.  As far as more deserving teams go, their schedule ensured that they (and TCU) would not get the NC nod over ANY undefeated teams.  If Oregon and Auburn went undefeated, pretty much every BSU fan would admit that they would be more deserving.  Had one of those lost, BSU should have at least been in the discussion.

Michigan's status does matter with regard to the posts to which I was referring.  Calling a team a pretender when that team would likely destroy your team rings kind of hollow.

Agreed, my post was not classy, and I have no problem with a difference of opinion.  I was referring more to the joy that people were taking in seeing an overachieving team fall on its face in a fluky game.

I wanted to see BSU play in a BCS bowl game against a BCS team to see where they stand.  Last year they didn't get their chance because the bowls copped-out and had them play TCU, and this year a team like UConn or WVU will go over a team like BSU that seems to be a far better team.

I just don't get the BSU hatred.  You don't have to like them, but people HATE them.  They have a great coach that is very classy, even following a loss.  He didn't bitch about the terrible kick catch interference call, or the disparity in PI calls, or bemoan how his kicker cost them millions of dollars and a chance to prove themselves.  They have a bunch of guys that never got a sniff from the big schools, and still manage to play team defense and team offense at a very high level.  I was pulling for them even before I moved to Boise and got to know some of the coaches and players.

I would have been OK with them getting beat out for the NC by other undefeated teams, and I am disappointed for the guys on the team.  I guess I am mostly just surprised by the level of hate for them across the country, which smells kind of like elitism to me.
