One Shining Moment, 1989
This is awesome. I was an eight-year-old boy in central Indiana who literally started loving Michigan because of Glen Rice and Rumeal Robinson. Thanks for sharing!

I was 6 years old in central Indiana and that team is why I've been a Michigan fan for 30 years now.
That was awesome! Thanks for sharing.
Glen MFing Rice. Good lord, what a player.
USA Today's story ranks all the OSM's from 1987 to 2019, and it'll interest you to know that one of Michigan's Final Four appearances grabs the No. 1 spot.
I would have guessed one of the Fab Five appearances would have been it, but they were pretty far down the list.
The winner? Give up? It's 2013 - the championship game that never happened. There are some pretty awesome shots of GR3 and Hardaway in this, as well as Trey's triple against Kansas. Here are the complete rankings: LINK.
"Louisville completes the emotional journey to a championship."
Stick to golf, Jim.
2013 was such an amazing, dramatic year. One of my favorite years ever watching a Michigan sports team.
BTW, isn't the singer of "One Shining Moment" from Ann Arbor? I seem to recall hearing that.
David Barrett, the writer of One Shining Moment, lives in Ann Arbor, wrote the song in East Lansing and cheers for both teams. Go figure!
More details here.
Yup. And graduate of Andover High School in Bloomfield Hills. A super nice guy too.
Pretty good! The end, the slow-mo of the game-winning free throw, is a great piece of video. High arc on the shot, settles down perfectly. I've never seen Robinson's last FT from that POV before.
One thing there wasn't however --- not a single clip from the Georgetown v Princeton game! That's still an iconic game 30 years later. That should have been part of the montage.
And the cheerleaders - it was the tail end, but still the big hair era.
Thanks for posting this. My family has made fun of me my whole life, because this song along with the video, makes me cry every year. It must be my competitive nature or my sympathy for the guys that lose. Either way, I could watch these all day, it brings back memories of the games and fun to watch.
Somewhere on MGOBLOG someone posted that they “don’t get” One Shining Moment and are critical of the annual production.
How very sad.
They could not have played on a real team in their own life—so—there is no point of relativity.
I hope someone will do a One Shining Moment for the Women’s NCAA Tournament.

That is sad and you are 100% correct about them not playing on a real team.
Sweet video.
But where have the 30 years gone since I last saw that SWEEEEEET Moment?
I have this on a VHS tape somewhere from the night of the game. It was already a big deal by 1989.
People forget that for three years, Michigan had something that Duke didn't . . . a National Championship.
