One cheer for Kirk Herbstreit: predicted the beatdown.
I know some don't like him, but I have no issues with him at all and think he's pretty fair, if wrong often (I don't think he's alone in that, anyone who predicts games for a living is going to be wrong a lot).
But on Gameday today, in the midst of predictions on the game, most saying it would be a close M victory, he said (slight paraphrase) "I think Michigan is going to win big, and enjoy doing it. It's gonna be one of those games you'll look at late and see M enjoying a beatdown."

Fuck him!
He faked his homerism for awhile, but the last few years he’s pathetic to listen to. Fucker said osu was honest about C Young.

Yes, believing the wrong thing on an issue is contemptible. So is being a homer for your school. Just awful. Worth much swearing and insult hurling.

You played great Shea!
November 16th, 2019 at 7:14 PM ^
He's an OSU knobslobber he just said what about everyone was thinking ...the close game predictions were just being polite
November 16th, 2019 at 7:19 PM ^
He's living vicariously through current Buckeye teams. Wasn't his record against UM 0-4?
November 16th, 2019 at 7:24 PM ^
He helped OSU play Michigan to a tie in 1992.
November 16th, 2019 at 7:38 PM ^
What often gets forgotten is that Elvis Grbac was knocked out of the game early in the second quarter.
So, yes. Herbie led them to a tie. But they had a little help from the injury gods.
Before that game, THIS was Herbie's claim to fame against Michigan...
November 16th, 2019 at 8:03 PM ^
Michigan also missed an extra point. And Elvis was knocked out running for a touchdown, which was not his usual role (as I'm sure you recall). That was the only Mich-OSU game I've ever seen in person, so I remember it well - or at least I think I do!

The craziest thing about that segment wasn't Herbstreit getting hammered, it was the ref's voice on the loudspeaker sounding like a ref from 1945. I was at that game as a student. That voice makes me feel OLD. Weird.
November 16th, 2019 at 8:43 PM ^
Herbstreit was on his back more in the Big House when he played there than he was on his honeymoon.
November 16th, 2019 at 7:20 PM ^
I like him too, but mainly just because he tapped Erin Andrews.
November 16th, 2019 at 7:26 PM ^
I’d rather tap Jenny Taft, not that it matters.
November 16th, 2019 at 8:07 PM ^
Maria Taylor, and 2nd place is at a far distance from her

I'll take Molly McGrath, please and thank you.

Molly Qerim (sorry Jalen) or Nicole Bristoe, thank you very much. They got that boom boom pow.
November 17th, 2019 at 8:00 AM ^
I’m more of a Holly Rowe guy but whatever.
November 16th, 2019 at 7:25 PM ^
May be an unpopular opinion - but I have always thought he has been pretty fair.
Love Woodson and Howard - but they always make their allegiance to the good guys crystal clear...
There are lots of reasons to hate the Bucknuts - Kirk H well down on the list, IMO...
November 16th, 2019 at 7:35 PM ^
Agree. I don't mind Kirk; he seems, at least to me, to attempt to be somewhat impartial. He's way better than Cris "Fall Guy" Carter and Joey Galloway.
November 16th, 2019 at 8:07 PM ^
Yeah- the guy had to move his family out of Columbus down to Tennessee due to his less than favorable observations of OSU. He certainly isn't always right, but I do think he calls it pretty fair, regardless of the teams he is talking about.

In 2001 I was driving through Ohio to Michigan, and Herbie was on a local sports station discussing the state of affairs between UM & OSU. His remarks: "I remember when I was in school, if a kid wore Michigan gear he would get beaten up, no questions asked. Michigan fans were never tolerated."
"That isn't the case any more and I wonder if we need to get back to that approach..."
That's Herbie.
November 17th, 2019 at 12:23 AM ^
Herbie on ESPN is != Herbie on the local AM radio. Apples and oranges my friend.
November 16th, 2019 at 8:15 PM ^
I think that Herbie has to come off as unbiased for his specific roles in his job. Woodson and Howard don’t do color commentary during games and also aren’t as used across ESPN on so many shows.
November 17th, 2019 at 1:30 AM ^
I am not sure his recent comments about Chade Young incident and ODU can be construed as fair.
November 16th, 2019 at 7:27 PM ^
He's an ass reporter. If he has a news scoop, 100% it's wrong.
November 16th, 2019 at 9:09 PM ^
You know, that sounds like a job to aspire to: "Ass Reporter"
But it would get dull after a while, all those asses.
November 17th, 2019 at 7:57 AM ^
If You got the right ones I’m sure you could make do.
November 17th, 2019 at 10:56 AM ^
Mega LOL! +1

November 16th, 2019 at 7:35 PM ^
He's great, I love his commentary and analysis despite him being a buckeye
November 16th, 2019 at 7:35 PM ^
I like Herbstreit. I don’t know why. He just seems fairly reasonable and a friendly guy to boot.
It’s hard to live in the public eye. I give him credit.
November 16th, 2019 at 7:42 PM ^
didn't Buckeye fans drive him out of Columbus?
November 16th, 2019 at 7:56 PM ^
Yes, they were giving him death threats for saying nice things about Michigan’s win in 2011.... I had to live in Columbus for 6 years because I transferred there for a job. I hated every minute of it. I had a cop approach me while downtown one time when I was wearing a Michigan jacket ask me to take it off because he didn’t want anything to happen to me. That place made me hate Ohio State more than ever growing up in Michigan.
November 16th, 2019 at 10:02 PM ^
My cousin moved to Columbus to work at Ohio State a few years ago (he's not there anymore). I went there to help him move and he warned me not to wear Michigan gear. He said they were getting dirty looks just for having a Michigan license plate. Needless to say, I took his advice.
(And for the record, he got his master's at Purdue, his doctorate at Michigan State, and worked at Ohio State. In his opinion, the best academic institution in the Big Ten: Michigan.)
November 16th, 2019 at 7:48 PM ^
Cheer for Herbstreit? What the fuck? No, absolutely not.
November 16th, 2019 at 8:33 PM ^
I'll put it like this - I've never been terribly interested in anything Kirk had to say, but today, he was rather accurate in retrospect. It was indeed a beatdown.
November 16th, 2019 at 8:53 PM ^
No offense, but no. He is painful for me to listen to as well. Glad he got a call right about Michigan. I often prefer mute to his and Fowlers yammering, especially when Michigan is playing and I can listen to Dierdorf.
November 16th, 2019 at 9:35 PM ^
Dude literally just said a few days ago that Chase Young and O$U handled the improper benefit issue with integrity. Lol. Fuck that dude. He might as well frost his tips again.
November 16th, 2019 at 10:13 PM ^
I couldn’t understand you with Kirk’s dick in your mouth
November 16th, 2019 at 11:37 PM ^
Herbie is great. He always gives Michigan props when they deserve it, and he’s critical when they deserve it . Just like he is for EVERY team he covers.
November 17th, 2019 at 12:02 AM ^
Klatt > Herbie
Herbie is the guy who goes into witness protection for telling the truth about the Ohio mob boss once only to be intimidated into submission henceforth.
Screw him.
November 17th, 2019 at 1:09 AM ^
I like Herbstreit.
November 17th, 2019 at 1:05 PM ^
Give Herbstreit a little break. Nobody is a bigger homer than Desmond.
