Old posts

It's the off-season, and finals week, so I've naturally been reading almost everything that comes through the MGoBoard. The subject of Big Ten expansion has been popular, and one of the things I read linked to an old post of Brian's, from the main page: http://mgoblog.com/content/big-ten-expansion-pros-and-cons It's from July 2007, before Carr retired, before RR, before even the Horror. I think it's hilarious, and occasionally scary, to see the old thoughts of the commentators and others on the site. Key quote:
West Fuckin' Virginia PROs: Darling of the moment with Rich Rodriguez staying, and if he turns down 'Bama's millions he's probably in for the long haul. Will have a good, if sleazy, basketball team with Huggins around. CONs: Isn't WVU a really crap school? Huggins should be a net negative. Football program has strong flash-in-the-pan characteristics. Verdict: Academics are a dealbreaker, I think.
How things change. Has anyone else been amused by reading old posts, threads, or diaries, for their crazy predictions or the way situations have changed?

I'm relatively new to MGoBlog, and it is fascinating to read old posts. I think Brian's anaylsis of Rutgers is interesting as well because it refers to M being in a lot of NJ guys, Brandon Smith and JB Fitzgerald in particular. While I still expect great things from Fitzgerald (and LaLota for that matter, our other NJ player) recruiting doesn't seem to be such a plus for adding Rutgers to the B10 anymore.
