OL target Thomas Cole commits to UCLA

Notable since he seemed likely as one of the few options to take the last couple OL spots in this class. Still remaining are OG Drew Kendal, OG Rocco Spindler, and OT Garrett Dellinger (committing on June 24; CB 100% to LSU)

I was honestly curious how it was meant.

I mean is a health issue something I would trust a coaching staff with? No. Would I be more comfortable with a health expert overseeing the procedures? Absolutely. I can absolutely see a large number of players at schools across the country feeling the same way.

Depending on how that survey is worded and interpreted, it’s understandable to have numerous players answer it the way it was answered.

It seems they want another for sure tackle in this class to go along with Bounds. I wonder if they just settle by taking 2 guards in Kendall and Spindler or go after a new target at OT like Diego Pounds. With that being said I also think Coles recruitment is far from over and if we don’t lock up one of those 2 guards mentioned above then expect a visit from Cole.

He’s not a for sure tackle like Cole or Bounds who are 6’8 monsters. El-Hadi has the versatility to move inside and play guard which is where I actually think he might end up. Warriner’s favorite characteristic for OL is versatility so while Gio might be a ranked as a tackle I think he plays all over the OL during his career. Which is why they may still target another pure tackle like Diego Pounds

Definitely looks like a lifestyle-over-program choice. I love me some Ann Arbor, but I've spent enough time in Westwood to know it's pretty, pretty, pretty good. Add in the weather and it's not a mystifying choice.

Funny because I've been to LA a few times and couldn't see what the fuss was about (love San Fran though). Having gone to school in Michigan, I'd gladly spend a few years in Ann Arbor over LA. It's an awesome college town.  Then again, I grew up around girls wearing daisy dukes all summer so it's not like that factored into the decision.

I'm not a fan of LA. I lived there for 2.5 years and HATED it. (And annoyingly, many locals dismiss  negative opinions of LA as the opinions of transplants.)

The city is deeply fractured and there's superficial human beings galore. It's quite easy to feel isolated, frustrated, alienated.

Re: ULCA

UCLA's campus is gorgeous. On one side is Beverly Hills and on the other side is Westwood.

But Westwood isn't very big. I recall walking 3-4 long blocks past Westwood and the surroundings changed dramatically (as in became sketchy). This was back around 2010.

Wonder if he read the story from a few days ago where the players sent the university a petition saying the program "has perpetually failed us" and there have been several "neglected and mismanaged injury cases." Not saying hey you gotta go to UM. Just saying take a really close look at UCLA.

How many guys will Michigan take on the OL? I see four current commitments, and still going hard for Kendall, Spindler, and Dellinger. Could we take all three? Is Kendall a take, or does he have to wait on Spindler?

Also, I see Spindler at 6'4", and Dellinger at 6'5". Is that enough to make Spindler a guard and Dellinger an OT?

Why two centers in one class?

Right now we have El Hadi, Bounds, Anderson, and Crippen. El Hadi is a tackle who could maybe slide inside. Anderson is a pure center. Crippen is a center and guard. And Bounds is a high upside tackle. Since we have 2 or 3 interior guys in this class already and seem to be pretty heavy on interior guys the last few classes, it seems like the staff wants to take one more pure tackle with that main target being Dellinger. Not sure where that leaves Spindler and Kendall. Would they take a class of 6 OL guys? Not sure. Could Crippen get processed in favor of Spindler or Kendall? Maybe

It seems like we were pushing hard for him as alternative to Dellinger who it feels like we have also turned the heat up with. I think Kendall and Spindler are both takes, but it feels like both are not Michigan leans at this point and the staff would rather have another tackle in the class
