Sounds like something you could put to "We Didn't Start the Fire"

All this confirms is Mark Dantonio's douchiness and that was never in doubt.
February 3rd, 2012 at 9:36 PM ^
With all due respect sir, but this, THIS, was the confirmation? The sky needs not confirm it is blue, water needs not confirm it is wet. Dantonio's douchiness is self explanatory.

Bielema is finding out real quick why no other coach said a word during the Tressel era. We all knew he was cheating his ass off, but you wait until he messes up before you go dropping bombs you think are true, only to find out they're partially correct at best.
The truth will come out. Urban is SEC'ing this conference. And it won't last long.

...is one of the funniest goddamn things I have read in, well, the last 24 hours or so.
February 3rd, 2012 at 9:11 PM ^
It must be then, now we can trust ohio and never ever have to worry again, yeah right
February 3rd, 2012 at 9:22 PM ^
I think I've either heard that piece at a Percussion Ensemble concert, or perhaps I've seen a Jackson Pollock with this name.
February 3rd, 2012 at 9:25 PM ^
Dantonio's just mad that Tressel isn't there anymore.
February 3rd, 2012 at 9:25 PM ^
How can one judge ethics when they themselves have none?
February 3rd, 2012 at 9:27 PM ^
Dantonio still sees Ohio as his "dream job," and doesn't want to burn the bridge in case Meyer gets "burned out" again in a few years.
I was listening to some talk radio out of Tampa, and their abject hatred of Meyer is pretty funny. They went over the usual litany of Meyer's contradictions and unkept promises, but with a lot more venom than I have heard. If they weren't so funny, it would have been WVU scary.
February 3rd, 2012 at 9:34 PM ^
Hopefully Dantonio doesn't trip over his own feet as he tries to backpeddle here.
Frankly, I don't care what Meyer did, only that people remind him this isn't the SEC the next time he tries to nab kids at the last minute.
February 3rd, 2012 at 9:45 PM ^
Dantonio and Badgerguy need to just shut up and stop whining. Their schools aren't highly sought after destinations, so it shouldn't surprise them that a couple of their "commits" choose to go to more prestigious programs year after year.

Thought dantonio and OSU are on the same team

Dantonio is just backpedaling. His quote means the same thing regardless of its context...

Yes it was. It's rumored that things like this are why he was never considered for the Michigan job when Carr left.
It's funny, I remember the same bitching and moaning happening when Rodriguez came and supposedly broke the "gentlemen's agreement."
February 3rd, 2012 at 10:44 PM ^
Dantonio talking about Ohio State's ethics would be like Charlie Manson talking about how Ted Bundy was innocent.
February 4th, 2012 at 10:04 AM ^
while referencing that school in Columbus. State is in EL. Ohio is on Cbus. Carry on.
February 3rd, 2012 at 10:56 PM ^
He should have kept his mouth shut and gathered proof and then delivered the evidence. Even the NCAA won't ignore misbehavior by a school on probation. Just calling Meyer a scumbag might feel good but doesn't accomplish anything. Meyer isn't going to change a thing until he is caught.
February 3rd, 2012 at 10:53 PM ^
Meyer also says he recruited within the rules, so it must be true. Side note: wasn't the "Gentlemen's agreement" a term from Tressel? Shouldn't Meyer be living up to the ethics of previous coaches? /s (of course)

February 4th, 2012 at 12:21 AM ^
That's the problem,Meyer IS living up to the ethics of the old coach.
February 3rd, 2012 at 10:56 PM ^
I think the "Gentlemen's Agreement" was coined by the Big Ten's resident Wilford Brimley look-alike, Joe Tiller.
February 3rd, 2012 at 11:16 PM ^
Snake oil led to the birth of the ol' Gentlemen's Agreement
February 3rd, 2012 at 11:22 PM ^
Thanks for clarifying, I thought it was Tiller that had the problem with recruiting and that it was Tressel that said publicly that their was a gentlemen's agreement among the Big Ten coaches.
February 3rd, 2012 at 11:01 PM ^
The picture in the article is literally the first time I have ever seen Dantonio truly smiling. I hardly recognized him.
Also, everyone seems to be conflating Dantionio's sour grapes complaining about stealing recruits with Bielema's comments about Meyer. To me, Bielema suggested something more sinister than just breaking some fictional "Gentleman's agreement" in B1G recruiting, especially when he brought up the "this is not SEC" argument. Maybe I missed something, but I don't think Bielema's dumb or petty enough to make such a big deal about recruiting committed players.
One more thing: I can't believe Meyer would try anything outside the rules with OSU under probation. Unless his hubris is even beyond the Saban level.
February 3rd, 2012 at 11:19 PM ^
At the end of the Outback Bowl he was smiling and it looked so weird. I kind of felt like I was looking at Gilbert Gottfried for a second, but I don't get that from this photo.
February 3rd, 2012 at 11:06 PM ^
Meyer said when he took the job he was going after National championships. That road goes through the SEC, so if you don't have the stomach or the kahoonies to handle that then get out of the way.

February 3rd, 2012 at 11:06 PM ^
The only gentlemen's agreement in the SEC, is to not take pictures of the other SEC coaches and staff, while they're enjoying their time at a Gentlemen's Club.
Unless you're Phillip Fullmer, which I think Bama and Michigan fans can share similar hatred.

Dantonio just remembered that he needs Urban to send him a few leftovers if he wants to keep up his top 50 ranked classes.
February 4th, 2012 at 11:32 AM ^
Twice in the last month Dantonio has had to try to explain his douchbag behavior to the media. You would think that would cause him to either shut his mouth for awhile or at least attempt to not step on his crank in public. I'm betting that he does neither.
