We still have the most #1 votes, but are in 2nd. What the hell kind of lame ass voting/ranking system is this??

I suppose #2 votes get nearly as many points as #1 votes, etc. What it must mean is that of those that don't vote us #1, they vote us well below Texas/Oklahoma. Which is stupid, but I suppose if you're only thinking of recent history the Texas/Oklahoma game has been pretty competitive lately.

This list is fundamentally flawed. With no Harvard/Yale, Army/Navy, or BYU/Utah this is not a comprehensive list. ESPN made sure to put on a lot of SEC rivalries, though. Florida is featured a lot, so I don't know why M's other big three (MN, MSU, ND) aren't.

ESPN does this every year, and every year fans of the teams involved become obsessed with stuffing the ballot box. What's the point?

Ok, I'm right down here just 90 miles south of Lubbock and must say there is no such thing as a Texas A&M/Texas Tech rivalry. Not sure who made the list but they missed it on that one, especially over the Navy/Army

Isn't Texas A&M and Texas the big rivalry? Rival songs talk smack to eachother. I know in Texas a&m song it says something about texas and says "SOUNDS LIKE HELL". Washington/WSU? Isn't a top rivalry either. I thought Florida/Florida State is the biggest one for florida besides georgia(recent years)

Miami vs. FSU is a big one, but I think that just may have been in recent years because of their high early-season rankings. These games usually resulted in low-scoring games that caused everyone to praise their defenses. This lasted until the next week when they still couldn't put up any points against supposedly inferior teams and then the yearly underperformance of both programs. Ahhh early season rankings. Gotta love'm.

I just noticed this too. It looked weird when I ran my mouse over the info button, but it didn't register at first. I went back and started wondering if the 100th game I "supposedly" was at in 2003 was some awesome, euphoric dream.... Someone please assure me this is ESPN's constant poor quality control and attention to detail. Silver Lining...? ESPN will hype their very own 100th game in November 2014!!!!

We (Michigan vs. AN Ohio state university) have won this nothing-else-going-on cash-grab poll every year, in every publication and platform, since the beginning of time. Did Texas/OU really just now improve itself as a rivalry? If so you have to ask yourself what changed. And clearly it would have to be both teams' alumni hiring airplanes to fly banners over the other team's stadium last year. If we want to regain the top spot, we need to have dueling banners ourselves. For Michigan I propose flying a banner over Ohio Stadium saying: Michigan Football: FUCKING YOUR SHIT UP Since 1879. Instantly couches burn, the Ohio crop-duster industry awakens, and the votes start pouring in again. Order restored.

Also notice that if you go to rank the College Basketball rivalries, it lists us and Purdue as one of the top ten. They clearly don't give a shit about any of this.

What the fuck are you guys talking about? According to some here, we DON'T CARE ABOUT OHIO STATE BECAUSE WE HAVE TOO MANY OTHER RIVALS!

His concept, if you read the accompanying column, is to toss out history and see what would be a big rivalry if, say, college football was invented on Jan. 30, 2009. That's the excuse for no Iron Bowl, etc. It's online Drew Sharpism. I recommend not responding. In the meantime, my new blog, "Everyone's Talking About You Behind Your Back Right Now Dot Com" has a new poll up today about how much guys named Jim suck. Currently, the "Jim sucks"es have it over the "Jim is an okay guy"s. If your name is Jim, you should head over there right now and juice my unique visitor totals defend your name from the Internet millions who say you suck, or else I will write my next blog entry about how much people named Jim suck.

But, didn't Washington and Washington State combine for like 2 wins last year? If this is supposed to be for 2009 why would that "rivalry" game be one to be voted on? Who, outside of inhabitants of Yakima, some trees, and bigfoot gives a rats ass about Wash v Wazzu?

Sure I enjoy the Texas vs Oklahoma game. But I don't enjoy it any more than i would a Texas vs USC game. Michigan-Ohio State is the biggest rivalry TO ME because of the teams involved. From my perspective, the other rivalries are all just big games that are interesting to watch, but not a whole heck of a lot different than if two random major programs locked up. Also, remember last year when they did the helmet competition. Yeah, remember when Michigan led against Texas in that until the end when Michigan suddenly fell behind by several thousand votes in the last hour or two. They're rigged.
