Had not seen it posted on the board yet.

At the end of the show today sam webb, and the michigan insider, announced that they have been furloughed for the next week to return on june 1. And will have 2 more furlough weeks TBD. Hope that this doesnt turn into something long term.

Its a shame to lose bakich, who was just on and is amazing; craig ross, and JUB. Even for a week.

Obviously i hope that everyone is doing well, and staying safe.

They announced this weeks ago. This was planned. That show that comes on after his is on furlough right now. They said this was going to happen multiple times.

And in response to the OP, I can stand a week without JUB. The constant laughter about nothing is annoying as hell. Then I have listen to Sam do the fake laugh also.

Sorry for the confusion. To lose him as an interview. Kinda like i don't mean craig ross or john bacon is getting fired or has died.   Its just syndicated shows to replace the show.

As a baseball coach i find bakich to be quite different from the herd.

I've been saying it for months, Sam's show is getting old.  Too many commercials (recruiting Roundup goes > 2 minutes before recruit info begins), too much talking about kids, too many interviews with his non-professional sponsors, too much recent Covid info from good but not truly national expert-level medical professionals, and most "inside info" comes through Lorenz or others first.  But I do specifically try to listen to Ross (great recent stuff), the coaches, sometimes Bacon, etc. Will the new podcast continue? Maybe preferable than the show.

I haven't listened as much lately, but I have not picked this up. Recruiting is cyclic.

I agree on Craig though. That man could take Ira's place, and I'd listen to every chopped up bit of that radio show (speaking to the 12 podcasts for each show).

Damn and terrestrial radio was doing so well up until now.... I like Sam and his show but if this is the beginning of the end for WTKA, Sam will land on his feet without a doubt

Sucks for them to be periodically out of work but let's not act like the next few months aren't usually the most boring for sports anyways. It'll give Sam time to ride his Kubota tractor

No big deal as this will end up being a 4 day week. WTKA's morning show, The Michigan Insider, has lost several sponsors but seemed to be holding it's own.

Know that Micheal Spath's Inside the Huddle show may or may not come back. I was told Jamie Morris' M-Zone was to come back by June 1st so I wonder if anything's changed there. Am betting he won't come back until early June, if ever.

WTKA stands to lose 2 of it's 3 local shows due to the impact of this virus. One can argue or debate about the quality of the shows.

You misquoted me as I said due to the impact of this virus. No mention of "because of this virus". How else can you say that the effects of this virus forced all non essential businesses to have been shut down? WTKA relies heavily on locally run businesses as their advertising model. Many of which dropped their ads. So, this is mostly a bottom line decision. The economics are much worse than what we saw in 2008-09.

Had we chose to deal with this virus in a more intelligent way, ie; not a protracted shut down, most if not all of our local business would have been able to open up much sooner, say by early May and not until June 12th, per Whitmer.

It's really incredible to me that these companies don't have a reserve.  That's such a basic concept.

EDIT: Side note: What excuse is an internet company giving their employees?  I guarantee their income hasn't fallen that much.  People are canceling but, I mean, come on.  It seems they're using this as a financial tool.
