No TDs scored ... becoming an issue

Submitted by stopthewnba on

I'll just leave this at statistics alone:

Coach Seasons Games with no TD vs MSU/osu
Schembechler 21 6 of 247 (2.4%) .667 (28-13-1)
Moeller 5 1 of 60 (1.7%) .600 (6-3-1)
Carr 13 4 of 162 (2.5%) .615 (16-10)
Rodriguez 3 0 of 37 (0.0%) .000 (0-6)
Hoke 2+ 4 of 34 (11.7%) .400 (2-3)

This actually doesn't paint the full picture, as Hoke's team scored a TD in his first 16 games.

They've failed to score a TD in 4 of their past 18 games (2012 ND, MSU, NEB, 2013 MSU)

Even Ryan freaking Van Bergen thinks Borges needs to go. He deleted his tweet but he tweeted something about him having 2 weeks and this being his gameplan is unacceptable.

The nature of RR's offenses lends itself to bigger plays but with more variability it would seem. So yeah, they might have had a TD, but what was their yards per play? Was that TD score basically the only successful play of the day?

Michigan has gone six straight road quarters in Rivalry Games with a touchdown

Michigan has been held without a TD in 10 of its last 12 road quarters in Rivalry Games, 12 of 16 overall under Hoke/Borges. If you want to include last year's Nebraska game--as like this year's MSU game, it's the decisive swing in UM's division chase--the number is 0 touchdowns in 16 of the 20 most important road quarters Hoke/Borges have coached at Michigan 8 straight quarters on any field without a TD vs MSU. Only 2 TDs scored in 3 years against those guys This is more than just a trend at this point. It's become the expectation.
