No BTN on DISH Network right now

Just a heads up for anyone who hadn't yet seen this. You have a couple days to find family members with cable or DirecTV logins they might be willing to share with you.

Guessing a lot of folks too will be appreciative of any streaming links that are posted Saturday morning.

What a joke.

Local sports... specifically hockey.

The only reason I haven't entirely pulled the trigger.

Might do the YouTube TV free trial for this week, assuming this spat is short like the last one.

Last game I missed was the Delaware State blowout b/c of a similar squabble between Fox and the providers.

I'm ok with YouTube TV. Watching the Wisconsin game in 2 hours was certainly less painful.

Their interface is designed by idiots though. The fact you can't delete watched episodes in series or even tell what you have or haven't watched is frankly baffling. That's some 3rd grade level stuff there. I mean, Google employs 100,000 people, what do they do all day?

YouTubeTV is all you will ever need for your sports viewing pleasure. Add in Disney+, ESPN+, and Hulu in a $13 package. Netflix and Amazon too and you will have everything you will ever need....except HBO....

For those impacted just do the one week free trial with Youtube TV or Hulu Live.  This way it won't cost you any extra.  If the outage goes longer do the free trial for the other one the next game.

I have had both now and I like YoutubeTV alot more than Hulu Live.

You really can't blame DISH here.  Sinclair, who is buying up all of the regional FS networks around the country, is asking for a double-digit increase for their programming as well.

Now Fox proper wants a double-digit increase for FS1 and the Big 10 Network, which they own 51% of with the Big10 owning 49%.

This is a huge power play by Fox.  They are trying to consolidate all of these regional sports networks and force the providers like DISH and Direct TV into bundling all of their channels, which gives Fox much more power, money, and negotiating leverage.

It's no coincidence that this happened right at the beginning of the football season.

If DISH and Direct TV give in, prices will just continue to skyrocket for the exact same programming that you have now.  Do you really want to blame DISH and Direct TV because they are trying to keep these guys in check?

It's only a matter of time before this hits all of the streaming providers too. Once they are done with DISH and Direct TV, they will be onto YouTube TV, etc.

Screw these guys.  Cable and Satellite already costs enough.  Fox programming is shit and they don't deserve and increase.

Screw Sinclair especially, and FOX.  Sinclair Broadcasting owns the South Bend CBS and FOX affiliates and by the end of the week I might be losing them both because of Sinclair's dispute here with ATT, DirecTV and U-Verse.

I already disliked Sinclair anyway; during the local news programming on FOX 23 they have some ultra-conservative Russkie political hack named Boris Epshitstain (intentionally misspelled) spouting off for about 4-5 minutes every night, I now rarely watch the channel other than for fox sports programming.

Yes, and you're probably correct re Fox's demands being ridiculous. However, not a good look for Dish because this is a reoccurring issue for them with various content providers.  At this point, regardless of who is 'in the right' regarding this go-around, Dish doesn't really give two shits about their sports loving subscribers. It's about bottom line, and getting a sub from Grandma who never turns on the BTN.

I cut the cord & don't regret it what so ever.

I had Hulu Live for the longest time & recently switched to YouTube TV. I like that I can customize my channel lineup & hide channels I never watch. So when I browse what's on, all the sports channels are first, followed by news & I've hid channels I'll never watch. Also having unlimited DVR is nice too. $45/mo is well worth it.

I live in Texas, so for Detroit sports games I just find a HD stream online.

Sorry if dumb questions, this streaming thing new to me. Giving YouTube TV a shot on the free trail, as I am super annoyed with Dish and this BS with Fox. Losing BTN pushed me over. Still got Dish (for now).

So I ask, what is the best streaming box/stick? My newer TV’s I can download through the app and don’t need a box/stick. But, would getting one help make the picture better or avoid the 20 second delay vs. Dish? I know my older TV’s need a box/stick regardless to stream.

Thanks in advance. Looking for the best way to get the best picture I can, at the slowest delay. (I know my internet at my house controls that). But it was clear and smooth (not choppy), just 20 seconds or so delay.
