NIL Proposal: QB Freshman

Submitted by Msmittakins on April 8th, 2022 at 2:14 PM

I am thinking about an NIL for prospective QBs. My idea is to crowd source the position for the class i.e. QB 2023, QB 2024 etc. whomever signs would receive the funds. This would be a legal way to recruit top QBs (I believe) as any player isn’t mentioned until they sign with Michigan. I believe this could be effective in recruiting as the ever-growing fund would have a social media presence that fans could share with prospective recruits.

Would this be interesting to you all? Am I missing anything glaring? Any input, like what are the best platforms to use for crowdsourcing?

Thanks!

So, I'm thinking about the post spring fretting about the linebacker position and I'd like to offer an alternate proposal:

The Annual 'We just bought Alabama's top player at our position of greatest need' NIL Fund.

Not much, maybe $10 a year. Although (hypothetically) if you told me that $30 of my money could help land Dante Moore, that would be worth it to me. I don’t imagine people putting hundreds down. If you have that kind of money, you should probably help people in need instead. This is just a way to contribute a few bucks to help acquire talent on behalf of the fan base.

Can I ask a legit question? Why are we always giving the bankrolls and the scholarship to the lucky and talented kids? Shouldn't we be helping the kids who aren't so great? Aren't they in greater need?

Yeah that’s my interpretation of the rule too. You’re allowed to pay a player for the use of their name, image, and likeness (NIL). Paying a player for choosing your school is still illegal. You have to at least feign following the rules. Openly paying a player for just being the QB commit of the class is a no-no.

This is gross and a well intended bad idea that only escalates    Also already pay the school enough for my seats and since Trump removed the tax break it’s even more expensive
