That article is poorly written for a couple reasons, but the main one is that he lumps Boren, Wermers, and O'Neill together, saying Ortmann thought they "lied" about their reasons for transferring. O'Neill never really said anything, and if he did, it wasn't public (AFAIK). If he said something personally to Ortmann, that should have been specified. I have a lot more respect for the way O'Neill moved on than either Wermers or Boren.

Yeah, I'm not down on O'Neill, and obviously, neither is Ortmann. At least he didn't misquote him. Ortmann was speaking singularly, about Wermers.

Love that. I can't stand Wermers and Boren making stupid comments, like this. Obviously everyone feels the same way, but Ortmann coming out and straight out calling them liars is beautiful. It was pretty obvious that Wermers was just pissed he wasn't going to qualify to play, but the way the media feeds off this stuff is really annoying.

It is really annoying. I am sure that this sort of thing happens all the time at other schools and less publicized. I understand that it is Michigan but these are obviously lineman who felt like they didn't fit the system. Just unfortunate that they had to leave like they did. Would have respected them more if they left without leaving bad comments. Like o'neil and Clemons.

Yep. O'Neill and Clemons handled things beautifully. I know this because I heard they were leaving and that was it. If someone leaving a program makes headlines for any reason other than, "This player won't be playing at Michigan anymore," then they're doing it wrong.

I never put much weight into what Boren and Wermers said on their way out, but it's goddamn refreshing to hear a player confront and debunk them.

about the BS spread by those who have left. Some have some class and exit quietly, others choose to burn the bridge that brought them here. They are young kids and don't always think before they speak, but its fairly common knowledge that you don't throw the program that you signed with under the bus on the way out. It's great that Ortmann spoke up, I believe that the majority of current players are choosing to demonstrate their "family values" on the field. Let's hope they show it in spades 12 times this season.
