NFL Divisional Playoffs - Pickin' and Grinnin'

Submitted by xtramelanin on

Mates,

Time to pick this week's games.   Last week was unique in that all the away teams were not only favored, but also won (though not all covered the spread).  I will leave to the true sports fans amongst us if that has ever been the case before.   Regardless, this week's match-ups have the home team favored in all games.   The lines vary from site to site somewhat, so I have done my best to give the average of those, and include the over/under.  Remember,  you are picking with the points, and of course the favorite is listed first:

New England                 4 1/2              Kansas City

Denver                           7                     Pittsburgh

Carolina                          1                     Seattle

Arizona                           7                     Green Bay

Have a great weekend.

EDIT: Once again, while writing it up the columns are all fine.  Hit the 'Save' button and it looks like I've been part of the Friday Night drinking thread since about noon.  Sorry, and thanks drupal.   Removed the over/under line and it lined up much better.   O/U for the fans is, in order, 42 (NE v KC), 40 (Den v. Pitt), 44 (Carolina v Seattle) and 50 (Ariz v. GB).

Kansas City under, Denver under, Carolina under, Arizona Over. By the way last week was the first time every road team won in the wild card :).

So have to go for Chiefs as a sentimental pick and the over.

On the others,

7 is a lot for those matchups, so I'll take Pittsburgh (under) and Green Bay (over)

Carolina will cover and the under as i think D will rule that game.

Should be some interesting games this weekend.

but they have lost what, 4 of the last 6 games?  with all their injuries many of us think NE has gone past the point of brady being able to push them over the finish line.   here's to hoping i am wrong.

Even though I bet KC I totally understand Jdon's point.  Whenever all the money lands on one side of the line, bet the other.   Last week of the regular season, for example, the Giants were laying 3 points to the Eagles playing at home.  The Eagles had just fired Kelly, had just been eliminated from the playoffs and EVERYONE was saying take the Giants, lay the 3 and collect your money.  I believe the betting percentages in Vegas were over 90% NY money.

Eagles won the game outright.

Here's what I will go with this weekend (projected winner in bold):

Today -

Kansas City vs. New England

Green Bay vs. Arizona

Tomorrow -

Carolina vs. Seattle

Pittsburgh vs. Denver

So last week I was 3-5 (picking spread and o/u) which is why I dot gamble.

That being said, if I enjoyed handing over money, I'd go with.

NE and over
Denver and under
Carolina and over
Arizona and over

KC over NE...KC is red hot while NE is not.

GB over AZ....total homer pick, not going to root against GB.

Car over Sea....Sea held off Min last week but I don't expect them to hold off Car this week.

Den over Pit...Pit is really banged up. I give the edge to Den.
