“Same thing every day,” Grady said. “Thinking, wondering, working. It was life. It was reality. I was in reality. This is kind of almost like a dream world almost. To be here and play a sport at a big-time college for big-time coaches and you’re doing big-time things. You’re getting a check at the same time." I guess RR is paying players now. /sarcasm http://www.annarbor.com/sports/reality-helps-kelvin-grady-find-a-home-o…

What the hell does that even mean? At first I was annoyed that you even brought this up, but I'm leaning towards being annoyed that The Acorn used a quote that was at best confusing and at worst spectacularly removed from context. Meanwhile, the whole Amway plant detour for Grady is unbelievable. But that "l" in the middle of his name evidently came with some good sense, I'm delighted for him.

refund check. When your scholarship pays for things like books or off-campus room-and-board, too much money gets given to the University on your behalf. The University isn't responsible for paying things like that, so it cuts you a refund check for the amount. tl:dr; reporter is misleading and likely dumb edit: in the daily's article, Grady was quoted as saying "rent check"

Monday's presser that Grady spoke frequently of the friends he has on the hoops team. But not once did he mention the coaching staff. Does anyone know what really happened? I thought he was a really good fit for a point guard in Beilein's system.

Or some...just addicted to bad news? Addicted to searching the intranets for shit like this? I only ask because I can't think of a bigger waste of time and energythan being Radar Guy with the extra sensitive ear coupled with the desire to suffer.

It's a somewhat confusing paragraph and the excerpt above is taken out of context, IMO. I read it as: having given up his basketball schollie, Kelvin was working for $10/hr at an Amway plant and drawing a paycheck, probably for the first time. Gone was the world of big-time athletics and the dream of an NBA career.
So Grady gave up his scholarship and moved home to Grand Rapids. He thought about transferring, but with no appealing offers he got a job as a temp working the 11 p.m.-7 a.m. shift at Amway through the staffing company Manpower. Every day, his co-workers reminded him of the life he left. “We loved seeing you on TV,” they said. “We loved watching you play.” And every day, Grady, who made about $10 an hour, thought to himself, “What am I doing?” “Same thing every day,” Grady said. “Thinking, wondering, working. It was life. It was reality. I was in reality. This is kind of almost like a dream world almost. To be here and play a sport at a big-time college for big-time coaches and you’re doing big-time things. You’re getting a check at the same time. “It was a humbling experience.”
Its a good article; read it yourself.

It sounds like he is talking about being a big time college athlete, giving it up, and working in a factory, getting a check every week. Regardless, it is a confusing paragraph to say the least.

Next Scandal: Rodriguez' Blood-thirst for Winning Hurts Players By Rosenberg Rodriguez chose to put winning ahead of what is best for his players when he chose not to red shirt Freshman QB Tate Forcier and destroyed the dreams of boyscout-saint-experienced-veteran Sheridan. Unnamed sources that may be within the program say that Forcier would benefit from having an extra year to build muscle and study the system. Rodriguez blood-thirst for winning no matter what it takes has also hindered Forcier's pro-prospects as an NFL career for Forcier would most likely require a 5th year according to an anonymous NFL scout, which has been wasted by the lack of a red shirt. An MSU player said, "Dantonio would certainly red shirt a player such as Forcier, because it is what is best for Tate as a human. Coach D stops by all of our houses at night to tuck us in and give us a bed time story and prayer."
