New in-state offer: 2020 DT Bryce Austin

Michigan offered Southfield (MI) A&T defensive tackle Bryce Austin today. He's a 6'2", 260 lb. kid with offers from Boston College, Michigan State, Minnesota, and Pitt, among others. He's a 247 Sports 3-star, the #22 defensive tackle, and #315 overall, which puts him in 4-star territory if he remains there. Here's a link to his Hudl highlights (LINK).

He's a teammate of 2020 QB Anthony Romphf, whom Michigan offered a couple weeks ago.

Austin is visiting Michigan today, along with a bunch of other players that I posted about in this thread yesterday (LINK).

I was wondering why he hadn't been offered yet since everything I've read about him make it sound like he's an explosive player at a position of need. Figured it was because he had been playing LB until his sophomore year, so he has only one year of tape on him playing DT.

Also of note, walk on CB Hunter Reynolds is on scholarship now. Currently a sophomore so he has 2-3 years left on the team.

I'm not sure if it's been discussed, but these walk-ons being put on scholarship are probably just for the Winter term. They probably won't be on scholarship during the 2019-2020 school year. They're taking spots that have been vacated by the guys who have left school early (Karan Higdon, Devin Bush, Rashan Gary, Aubrey Solomon, Drew Singleton, etc.).
