New Post-Game Sticky Thread: Hats Off?

Submitted by Swayze Howell Sheen on November 14th, 2021 at 12:50 PM

I like that we have sticky snowflake threads after each game. A place to vent about our team, or, even better, a place to enjoy the victory (sometimes, that is hard to do around here, you know, enjoy good things).

I have one suggestion that came to me while rewatching the end of yesterday's game: a Hats Off thread, that is also sticky after each game. The idea: a place to talk about things the other team did that we admired (admittedly, grudgingly).

Perhaps I am feeling magnanimous (not salty) because of the wonderful win, but after rewatching the end of that game, I felt like I had to say: Hats Off to Sean Clifford. Dude was a warrior. He single-handedly almost won them the game (well, that, and their actually pretty good defense), despite getting the snot beaten out of him.

Anyhow, just a thought. Neg (or Pos) away!

Hats off to the offense for playing like they did when the chips were down. The line opened holes. And man, Hassan Haskins going into them like a mad ox! Then the beautiful throw and run for the lead!

All of this when the pressure was full on!

Great idea. I used to really like a segment on the Colbert Report called "Tip of the Hat, Wag of the Finger."

Tip of the hat to: Sean Clifford

Wag of the finger to: James Franklin

I gave props and a hats off to Sean Clifford in a snowflakes thread.  A really gutsy performance in defeat.  He was a turnover machine and took a lot of heat from PSU fans and media over the years.  But the dude has been a warrior, played through pain and a demolition by the Michigan defense.  He fought like hell and damn near won a game they had no business winning.  I hope the PSU fan base is applauding him.

Hats off to Frames for his typical mix of mind boggling decisions that helped PSU loose the game

don’t think they needed the help but … thanks Frames.

I suppose we could have "_________ Snowflakes: Laudatory Notes And Assorted Commendations". This might be a short thread in a couple weeks, knowing this place.

It has to have an MGoBlog-ish title, after all.

Yeah, I remain so impressed with Dotson. Not just his remarkable talent, but he seems like a class guy. At least so far that I've seen, he doesn't preen, demonstrate (like the annoyingly inevitable "First down!" gesture that's so common now), taunt, or in any way disrespect the opposition, or the game.

I wish nothing but the best for him. He's a hell of a player.

Hats off to the PSU offensive coordinator and going up tempo for stretches of the game.  Kept some of our best dline man on the sidelines because there was no time to sub then in.   Wish Michigan would do this sometimes.
