Negbang: Am I the only one who doesn't care about satellite camps?

Submitted by Brodie on

Like at all? I'd rather discuss paint drying.

I mean, I don't really see why? The unceasing obsession with every last bit of satellite camp ephemera seems to be more less constrained to our fanbase, particularly since the NCAA ban (which WAS worthy of discussion) was lifted.

I really don't need to know every single time the words "satellite" and "camp" are uttered in the same sentence by the head coach of West Georgia College for the Legally Blind nor do I need to know every time someone schedules one at some far flung high school. They are nowhere near that important.

Because the SEC temorarily got them band because they are shitting in thier pants about our head coach and we think that's kind of cool. So we talk about it often on this Michigan football board. In the off season. When there is not much else to talk about.

It was a tongue and cheek answer. The fanbases of Michigan/SEC powers/Schools obsessed over Michigan (OSU,MSU,ND), add in a little Harbaugh, and it is ensured that this topic won't die. We'll be hearing about it likely on every game broadcast next year. If we play an SEC opponent in a bowl (especially playoffs) the entire narrative will be sculpted around it. Honestly, I don't think any of the previously mentioned fan bases care about the actual sattelite camps. If Harbaugh/Michigan wasn't involved, no one would care about the narrative either.

It's relevant to Michigan football and it's the off season.  Why wouldn't it be discussed here?  I'm more likely to click on a satellite camp thread then a baseball or softball one.

get that right. Second of all, no--satellite camps in and of themselves ARE like paint drying. What we like is OMG shirtless Harbaugh and the turf war aspect--holding them in the right nostrils of all our most despised enemies, taking their guys, putting them on our side, and sisternizing with their wimmen (or men, cuz' we are not prejudiced and each to her/his own) along the way.

Brodie - I get where you're coming from.  There are lots of posts on this site that I think are pointless and uninteresting to me.  That's OK though, because I don't read them.  And if I do, I don't think that's anyone's fault but myself and I SURE AS HELL don't start a post telling other people what they should or should not be interested in (or to simply tell people what I'm not interested in).

I think the satellite camp thing has gotten more attention than it should, but I still like to see where we're having them because we can get good recruits that way.  And I do find it interesting that Harbaugh has so ruffled the feathers of so many "power school" coaches.

Yes Brodie, I think you may have stumbled upon a kernal of insight in your field of drivel, like the proverbial blind squirrel -

WE (most of us Michigan FB fans) are on very different wavelengths than you are. These camps spread the word of Coach Jim Harbaugh, and like disciples, we heed it!

You go on with your own interests and stumble back over to the blog on Labor Day weekend to see how the season turns out.

It's cool with us...

Talk about subjects I could give a flying f about..sorry baseball softball folks in advance, I just don't click em and even new basketball assistant coaches? Could care a less, I know Beilein is an outstanding coach and he'll resurrect the team next season so I'm good there.

Football? I want to know everything, every last detail, satellite camp in Samoa? Yes, very important, need to know this, need to know every detail.

Yes. Also watching Tomorrowland. Still think this movie is underrated. Clooney is money.

to change the subject, the Texas A&M qb recruit is opening back up his recruitment. the A&M went on Twitter and bashed kids for flip flopping, and now their top wr just tweeted he is out of their class now too after reading the coaches sub tweets.

So you're just okay with certain people (read: teams and coaches, conferences, people with power in regards to college athletics) opressing others for the sake of their own good? Like, let's just ignore it, who cares, "We're Michigan rah rah"? Well fuck that noise bruh...you do you, if you're down with the status quo. I know it's a drastic analogy but the status quo years ago meant people of different color or ethnicity couldn't take a shit in the same spot as white people. Ain't that ridiculous?! Yes is the answer. So because a guy with innovative ideas comes along and heads a team with much tradition, in a state far up north in the country, and realizes the status quo is fucked and needs him some athletes from the South and has found a way (LEGAL) to reach out to said kids, of course to help his own program...but is being (attempts to) denied access to these kids due to unwritten rules (many ILLEGAL) from said Southern territory......IS OKAY WITH YOU AND LET'S MOVE ON TO TALKING ABOUT THE 2-DEEP?!
