NCAA Football Game on the iPhone

Submitted by bklein09 on

So I was looking through the available games on my iPhone the other day, and saw that EA Sports has come out with an NCAA football game for the iPhone.

Its $5 and of course I downloaded it.

It is essentially exactly the same as Madden, but has a limited number of teams. The instructions say you can create your team if they are not one of the available options.

The game does a surprisingly good job at representing Michigan stadium, and the into to games in the Big House is not bad. Hail to the Victors blairs as the camera pans over the crowd. Its definitely worth the 5 bucks.

Another bonus to the game, Sparty is not one of the included teams. Central Michigan is on there, Houston is on there, but no MSU. I found that comical. Its just another indication that they'll always be little brother. We don't have to beat them every season for that relationship to hold (although that would be nice!).

It has a season mode, but there is only one big conference since many teams are missing. Its kinda weird, as Michigan's schedule includes teams like Colorado State and Alabama.

There does not seem to be a dynasty mode or recruiting. But to me just being able to play as DRob from anywhere in the world makes the game worth the price.

Yeah that sounds about right. 29-27 still makes me smile. Too bad Pam Ward called that game otherwise I might be able to listen to that field goal call over and over.

The graphics are impressive, but I would be shocked if anyone with any semblance of a life has played more than 6 quarters of this game when not on the crapper.

I have played through 1 season and found that the gameplay was really frustrating. It seemed like some of those older games where only some of the plays work and other just don't work regardless of the situation.  Receivers drop passes at a frustrating level. Running the ball with the rb can be pretty easy. I ended up pulling a Wisconsin and abandoned the pass, Mike Shaw had a big season.

I doubt I'll ever play a 2nd season. $5 - its debatably worth it.
