Brandon Naurato named interim HC. That was my preferred option I think. Didnt want some lost year with Red shaking off the cobwebs. Hopefully this keeps the roster and recruiting class together

Seems very promising. I'm an old guy who thinks not enough young, brilliant coaches get chances--especially in the major sports--to step in and innovate. Too often, the same handful of names get bandied about, and then there is pressure (I think) on schools to pull in candidates with established identities. This hire in particular seems to have lots of upside, given the time constraints: If he rights the ship, fantastic, and if not they'll have their pick of the best candidates at season's end.

JUB doesn't seem to be a huge fan for some reason.

I didn't realize it was perceived to be so risky by some. I figured worst case, if it's not a home run, Michigan hires someone else next season. I was also under the impression that there's very little time left to find a new coach.

Well, the guy has no experience with a program outside the last year and his playing days. Van Ryn, Wiseman and Mackult have more coaching experience at the program level. As does the guy who left for Denver (or CC was it) a year or two ago. The Chi Steele guy was posiible apparently as well.

Gotta hope he can hold the recruiting together and get some good results this year.

It appears the AD believed that Pearson was “redeemable” through a performance plan.  But the report exposed blatant lying as well as perceived untruthfulness.  We don’t know what Pearson and the AD envisioned, but from my experience liars don’t stop lying, performance plan or not.

Yep, seems like Warde thought he was going to be able to re-sign Mel - which again, why wasn't this contingency covered in May with MSC and the regents?? - the fact that he got rightly overruled means he had basically no plan for a replacement in August. Warde obviously thought Mel would be exonerated in the appeals process. Bzzt. This is 100% on Warde
