National Signing Day

I know it's not like it used to be but still interesting:

Looks like Michigan was able to hold onto the majority of the class (so far)

Texas T$M has the highest-rated class in the modern era (along with getting DL Shemar Stewart

Don’t mean to be a dick but what are you getting at re: holding the class together “so far”. — All of the true M commits have signed LOIs from the first signing day.  Xavier Worthy aside — kids can’t just change schools after they sign.

I haven’t had time to check the sites today but Kevonte Henry was trending Oklahoma (hasn’t really been a commit for months), the 3* RB from TX chose UGA over M and FSU, and Connerly was going to go past NSD#2 to make a choice.

Am I missing anything?

They CAN but to this point you are not seeing it unless there is a valid excuse I.e. - family medical issue, head coach/position coach left or school F-Ed up my early enrollment plans (Worthy).

The kids can always use their one-time-only free transfer but I have not yet seen public pressure for a school to release people from LOIs unless a valid reason exists.

This is the precise reason why Jim locked up the recruiting class on early signing day.  he didn't want to screw up the recruiting class while he entertained NFL offers.

See.... all you guys are shitting all over him and he made sure the next recruiting class was locked up ahead of time.

Oh isnt he a saint.  I have no problem with him pursuing his Super bowl dreams, but the interview happening on today is for a reason, he is trying to show how serious he is about going to MN or to the NFL.  In the meantime, watch out for Portal and requests for transfers and to play right away at a different school.  Ive said it before once it got 2-3 weeks into this 2 weeks ago, Warde should have pulled whatever offer is on the table and started looking for his next coach.

Isn't is more than probable that Manuel has begun that process?

As for Manuel's offer that you refer to, that would be a renegotiation of the current deal which runs through 2025. I'm not sure that the U conducting formal job interviews/negotiations to replace a guy who is still under contract isn't acting in bad faith if not a breach of the contract. JH can do it because it's in his contract; I'm not sure what the U's rights are.

That's nice of him. Currently these top Defensive recruits dont have a DC though, and the current coaches can change. All of these kids will have to be re-recruited if a new staff comes onboard.

What's he going to do when he poaches coaches and the current players bail?

JJ committed to Ben McDaniels and Moore. If Moore, Harbaugh and Weiss leave....thats his HC, His position coach, and his top recruiter all leaving.

Not saying any of this will happen, but its a slippery slope. Im not ready but we all are immune to dong punches by now.

WTH are you talking about - locking up our recruiting class the 1st signing day ? The vast majority of kids and schools signed on the 1st signing day in December - just the way it is now. I believe PSU signed 1or 2 and OSU signed 2 today.

I saw that the 5-star Conerly - out of Washington - has delayed his commitment past signing day and many thought he was leaning towards UM. Hmmm, I wonder why?

So my question is if JH returns, do we go through this same BS again next year. Gotta believe EVERY opposing coach will use his desire to return to the NFL when recruiting against us. Plain and simple, time to move on and give the HC position to someone that wants to be here

As is pretty common when you're absolutely, positively trying to gaslight people, Jimbo's full-throated "it's not about the money" defense of his historic class coming off 4-, 5-, 1- (COVID year), 4-loss seasons is pretty funny.

Anyway, we'll see what happens with the new coach but I do get a sense that Harbaugh has been up-front with kids and I think a jump to the NFL feels "different" to recruits than a jump to another college team.

I mean, I get this, but it always annoys me when coaches say shit like this. Everyone knows, its supposedly within the rules, just smile and say whatever dude. Going hard in the opposite way when everyone knows is just a terrible look. Reminds me of Dabo. You don't have to let everyone know every recruit was paid for, but man.

Yeah, I have no problem with a bunch of kids getting paid but it's weird for a millionaire who has, objectively, been a bit of a disappointment at A&M since he arrived to be like "oh yeah, this staff just works so much harder and all these kids want to play for A&M because they loves the Aggies" bullshit.  You can wink and smile and whatever but to get so defensive and thin-skinned makes him seem incredibly petty.  I'm sure he is feeling pressure, though, to win a title now given the quality of his class.  What is funny is that A&M has been pulling in top-10 classes since he arrived and the results have been decidedly meh (compared to expectations).  I'm sure you can get a critical mass of talent where it doesn't matter but maybe he should look at some of those same coaches and see if they could be upgraded as well.

I agree about Dabo - super-religious guys who are obviously hypocrites always bother me, and guys like him and Urban were always these Bible thumpers who hated anyone pointing out where maybe they broke some rules to win.
