Nate Sudfeld Out for Year

Submitted by alum96 on

Sudfeld had a reported 'separated shoulder' Saturday and today Kevin Wilson in his presser said he will have surgery and be out for the year.

Chris Covington - a freshman - will take his place.

Takeaways:

  • MSU will now have a bye week/light scrimmage on Saturday to prepare for UM
  • That Indiana home game just got a lot less daunting; adjust/allow for Tevin Coleman pulling a Cobb

I will throw this out there about Sudfeld - against non-North Texas teams he's thrown for 3 TDs vs. 3 INTs with about 56% completion percentage and a bit over 11 yards per reception.  Those feel a bit underwhelming considering who they played, and even if you throw in North Texas it still doesn't look great.

He's a loss because of his experience, but Indiana's offense relies so heavily on Coleman that I'm not sure playing a freshman will be hugely different except I suspect even more will be asked from Coleman as a receiver.

from the same level of mushroom cloud disaster, except we have no Tevin Colman and no legitimate OL to speak of.

Could matters be worse for UM? Sure. But what's worse?  "Worse" is officially moving in after "just hanging out" with you since oh about January 2007.
