If things are still buggered later, I'll see if I can start some threads for the various football games.

on another message board. it probably sums it up best in re: to LM.

I think it will have more to do with an insane fan base that wanted to fire a man who has more 11 win seasons in 6 years than LSU had in its history just 3-4 weeks ago. He knows he will never make the LSU fan base happy.

The emotions are very different now than they were in 2007. LSU loved Miles because he was playing for a potential national title. This year he was being drug through the mud for being undefeated.

He's just trying to use this exactly like he did the previous search -- to extort money from LSU. John U. Bacon confirmed this week that Miles wasn't even contacted in 2007, and likely it's the same now.

If LSU is unhappy with him, it's at least partly because they now know he played them in 2007.

I don't know how any reasonable person can suggest that KC Keeler belongs in this conversation.  The dude averages 4.6 losses per season at DELAWARE.  How is this impressive?  His name would never come up if their school colors were green and white.

Me too.  Don't forget the fact we are on probation.  If we have another major violation, we are dead.  I would rather lose football games than no football games.

The Mgojet (N929sr) is heading for Thomasville GA this morning (34 miles from FSU).  Checking their staff, what do you think about Mark Stoops their DC?  Iowa player... from Ohio... 43 years old.  Hmmmm.

The Dominoes jet is sitting in Vegas.  I'm guessing Brandon is playing blackjack with all the money he tried (but failed) to give to Harbaugh...

I'll take an initial stab. From a cursory glance, having DB coach experience, getting elite DB's as a recruiter, and coaching in some capacity for successful teams (MIami 01-03 DB coach)all seem like pluses. A DC, who helped turn around Arizona (and make them a top 25 defense- by year 5 I think??). I don't know much about FSU's defense this year (and he was a first year DC), but they had a good year.

Did you mean for HC? Idk. Interested to find out more...

Stoops would be an off the board pick.  One of the things DB stated in the press conference is that he wanted someone with head coaching experience.  Mark doesn't have any, but certainly his brothers do.  Florida just hired a DC with no head coaching experience, so maybe DB has to go off the board since choices are getting thin.

JH will be successful with the 49ers and I hope he is.  NFL job with a storied franchise with 5 Super Bowls, one behind the Steelers for most ever...I do not blame the guy for going pro.  Michigan could have gone after him in 07 when he was rebuilding Stanford and that was the risk we took.  I loved JH back in the 80s when he was stomping over the Cornhuskers in the Fiesta Bowl and predicting wins over OSU (and then delivering) and I wish him the best.  The 49ers are now my 2nd Favorite NFL team...GO LIONS!!!

They'll bring in Carl Grapentine for the half-time show.

"Lllllllladies and gentlemen!  Presenting the new head football coach of the Michigan Wolverines...Lllllllllessssss  MILESSSS!!!"

Dreaming?  Yes.  But it would stick in people's minds.

Or maybe we'll just wait until Sunday basketball to announce.

I'm just baffled that the only news we're getting is "jim Harbaugh is going to sign with the 49ers"  and "Patterson gets contract extension".

Is it "certain" that the only two coaches in the picture right now are Miles and Hoke? I find that very hard to believe.  I'll put my money on option C... a big name coach no one thought was available (similar to how RR thing went down.)  Okay, maybe I'm a dreamer.

As much as I wanted RR to succeed, I don't think at some level he really got when it meant to coach here. Prior to RR, how many times did Michigan go into a game with OSU especially, with inferior talent and either win the game or at least make it competitive!! Never happened with RR, more often than not, the team came out flat, even when they had the players and potential to at least make a game of it. How many times did we here the excuse, oh we just didn't execute?? I'm thinking someone with M ties is a must, who can inspire the hate and disgust that can only be reserved for Sparty and worthless nut. Please, no more coaches who can only find Michigan on a map ;-(

Can you wink and frown at the same time?  I just tried and it didn't work.

Don't limit it to "Michigan ties" that's so ridiculous and vague.  For example, Calvin Magee has Michigan ties.... you know, because he coached there.  Should we try and retain him as an OC? (Actually, wouldn't be a bad idea!)

our offense, against any opponent worth a damn the last few years?  Our RR version of the "spead" offense is not as "creative" as we may have been lead to believe.  Hell, I watch the Delaware game for 5 minutes last night and they did more offensive formation shifts and put more guys in motion in a spread formation, then Michigan has in the last 3 years.   Sorry to say, Calvin has got to go.....

Response to U Fer M:

I can agree with some of your statement, but the flip side is how many times we underperformed and came into OSU and played to our potential.  I love Carr as a person and mentor to players, and he was a good coach.  But, I can remember losing games that we should have won.  Kordell game, we sat on the ball and they came back.  Losses to NW when we were the more talented team.

The thing with RR was maybe we didn't have the better team.
