Agreed.  This isn’t a coach leaving for the NFL, this is a coach who has an exciting brand of football heading to a place that has great tradition and an amazing college campus/atmosphere.  It’s hard to see him not putting together an amazing class.  OU is in a bad position and needs to make a hire quick.  Matt Campbell??

IDK, 18-year-olds taking a scholarship do it for all kinds of reasons. Distance from home, family in the area, allegiance to a school/family ties to the school, weather, relationship with coaches, likelihood to make the playoffs/win championships, etc, etc. If anything some of those recruits would have also followed Riley to Baton Rouge.

Per 24/7, usc is still a dark horse for conerly and has tried to bring domani Jackson back in the fold. But it sounds like they are both in 3rd or 4th standing for both. Meanwhile yes, Oklahoma is getting rocked right now. Doesn't bode well for them this cycle.

I do not feel sorry one bit for Oklahoma.  They are another fan base that has been spoiled beyond belief.  They had a legendary coach in Stoops.  He hands it off to a prodigy.  Multiple Heisman QBs.

And what really upsets the situation is the shady way in which they went about joining the SEC.  Now, they have to figure out who will be coach, watching elite recruits decommit, and having to join the SEC with a battered Texas.

I am here for ALL of it!

There is something to say about the quote being on 3rd base and acting as if you hit a triple...  Riley, for as good a coach as he is, has never built anything.  He will have to do just that at USC... and sustain.  Prodigies such as Sarkisian and Kiffin are excellent play callers and recruiters, but even they had a hard time.  Time will tell.

And just because you have 5 star recruits don't mean you have 5 star culture and heart.  On paper, OSU should have obliterated UM...

I call this "the Miami problem." If you're attracting 5 star recruits for all the wrong reasons they probably won't look like 5 stars on game day.

But I don't think that's why OSU lost. I think they lost because Day has a Big12 mindset that over-prioritizes the passing game. We had the better O-Line and better D-Line. Having 10 5 star WRs and 2 5 star QBs on the bench won't compensate for that.

I’ve been wondering about Domani Jackson for a while now. Has he has anything to say lately, maybe after The Game? I really thought we’d reel him in, but with this hire, I have no problem seeing him back at USC. To be honest, I don’t even understand how USC and UCLA have managed to both be bad for so long.

Who amongst us would have predicted that the best team in SoCal would be the one coached by Brady Hoke?

I really hope Coach Hoke gets his championship this weekend.  That dude has put in the work.

Really interesting seeing him and Harbaugh both get in pretty good shape for this season and then mount tremendous squads.  Makes you think the pandemic really got people thinking about what they can control and how they captain their ship.  I feel like, on a much smaller scale, I have gone through the same thing.

I assume a number of them will wind up at USC but I'm still on the fence about Riley being a king at USC.  His teams still don't play great defense and he's always had a talent advantage over basically everyone he faces in the Big 12.  The Pac-12 isn't amazing but Oregon is a national program with history of recent success and teams like UCLA, UW, ASU, Utah, etc. can all make some noise.  And his QBs this year have underwhelmed compared to expectations, and so I think there's still a bit of a question mark about how good he can be without a Heisman Trophy winner at the top spot.

I think he'll be fine at USC but I don't see him lighting the world on fire.
