Moorman and Kelly updates from Detnews

Cliffnotes version:  Moorman would listen if Michigan called, but has not heard anything yet and Kelly would like to schedule an official visit to Michigan but it hasn't happened yet either.

Moorman is a guy I wanted us to look at for awhile.  Top lineman in the state, arguably, and he has the Wisconsin seal of approval.  Plus we need another OL with Bosch leaving.

Kelly is another guy that would be nice to land.  Plays either RB or DB, both of which are areas of need and he seems like a Harbaugh kind of kid.  Hope it happens.

Looking at other offers that Moorman had - a couple Big Ten teams offered him, but yeah, if you're an OT and Wisconsin likes what they see, you're doing something right at this position historically. In any case, Illinois, Purdue and Minnesota offered him, and beyond the conference, Western Michigan, Cincinnati, Central Michigan and Northern Illinois, among a couple others.

According to Rivals, in addition to Michigan and MSU, John Kelly has Iowa and Minnesota on his offer list, and although it lists interest in OSU, they didn't offer apparently. His list of offers outside the conference is pretty similar to Moorman's actually.

I like Kelly, I think he's a guy that can fit multiple positions, but would prefer him on the offensive side of the ball, either as a RB or slot.

I'm not very high on Moorman. I think he needs to improve his feet a lot to be a big impact player at the next level. He's already filled out, so that's helping him now, but he has work to do and is limited to playing the interior spots on offense. Remember, this WIscosin seal of approval was a different coaching staff than the ones that produced great OL after great OL through recruiting under-recruited types. We never really saw how Anderson and his staff identified OL.

I agree on Moorman. He's a strong kid, but I don't think he matches up well with Big Ten defensive linemen athletically. He stands up straight, is slow off the ball, crosses up his feet, etc. I'm inclined to give Wisconsin the benefit of the doubt - regardless of the coaching staff - but in my own opinion, Moorman's not a great prospect.
