Monday afternoon sonnet
Ok after writing the Haiku this morning, BlockM challenged me to write a sonnet, so durning my lunch time I looked to Shakespeare and a couple of his sonnets and hope I have done it correctly or mostly so. So here it is.
When time was done Eastern had not prevail’d
The Wolverines had won on this fine day,
Thy Eagles fought bravely but they failed,
Denard and running backs thy defense ruin’d:
Bruised and aching but not diminished,
When knocking our Forcier to the ground,
He had enough to stay for the finish,
Proving Barwis conditioning helps win.
Summing up the time clocks count a big shock,
Thy team has doubly held the ball this game,
Thine team did have a former coach in stock,
Tis not enough to be from Michigan.
Hoosier defense will try next to stop us,
Hail to the Victors Hail to Rodriguez.

Is what MGoBlog is all about. Is it creepy if I imagined the naked man reading this from his couch while someone played a bongo in the background?

When Michigan lined up to run the ball
My heart began to pound inside my chest
The tension which at first was very small
Built quickly like a wave about to crest
The clock slowed down and time began to crawl
As Michigan prepared to take the test
The ball was snapped, the crowd was standing tall
What happened next I never would have guessed
The lineman moved to find a man to block
Tate took the ball and handed off to brown
He cut it up, the crowd began to roar
As carlos burst through the seam with the rock
Our stress relieved, we raised a joyous sound
Eleven seconds later he would score

all iambic pentameter. impressive. The spondee at the end of Rodriguez lends a triumphant note of hope.

Not iambic pentameter. You've got "when TIME was DONE EASTern.." (Among others)
The emphasis on Eastern in is EAST. You don't say eastERN. Iambic pentameter is so much more than just ten syllables per line.

The apostrophes are a nice touch.
