Wagner had 11 points and five boards in the win over Mexico. They’ll play two more group games before playing in a tournament to try and get one of four spots.

Again...

just a couple of weeks.

Nothing makes one better than actual competition. Iron sharpens iron.

People who duck things like competition and the combine are akin to high-profile people who quit their jobs and use "family" as an excuse (it rarely is -- it's generally some crime or infidelity or scandal).

What a strange hill to die on... Franz has plenty of international competition on his resume, teams don't care about that at this point. Lots of players, not just Franz and not just Americans, opt out of these international tournament all the time. Many of them are extremely competitive people. It's likely he wouldn't play that much, it would have involved going overseas and coming back which is time not spent refining your game or working out. Franz is at a unique point in his career that will never happen again, if he feels it's best that he stay in America and work on his game, I believe it is likely the right call.

Feels odd and slightly personal that you just lumped Franz in with someone that had a high profile scandal. I have no idea where you even pulled that one out or why you felt it necessary to make that comparison since they have absolutely nothing to do with each other and are entirely irrelevant to Franz.

Your reading comprehension sucks.

I drew a comparison between two cliche excuses which often don't mean what they do at face value.

The subject was the excuse; not the person.

Your takeaway that Franz is lumped in with people who have bad behavior says a lot more about you than it does me.
