We do recruit as well as Purdue. Swanigan can be considered their McGary, except he's been healthy. Swanigan and Haas are the only top 100 players on their team. In fact we probably recruit better than them as a rule. I know that's not a huge barrier but still.
The key is not so much as recruiting top 30 players consistently, it's not going to happen under Beilein and quite frankly won't happen as easy as some think it will with a new coach either. The key is finding the right players in the top 50-150 range. That's where everyone gets 90% of their roster outside of Kansas, Kentucky, Duke, UNC. Wagner was 114, Wilson was 122, Walton was 44. Then dip into the top 30 every once in a while for a McGary type and that's how you get another 2013 team.

South Carolina just lost. They were the last 7 seed on the Bracket Matrix. And they've been going the opposite direction of Michigan so if they take end of season momentum into account (which they do inconsistently), Michigan may be ahead of them now.

Not true. They will make 2 brackets, one for each outcome of the B1G championship game. I remember them talking about it in 2014. The committee chairman said that if Michigan had won they would have been a 1 seed.

I assume you meant this tongue in cheek but I'm going to give a serious reply anyway!
Most bad coaches are fired quickly so they don't have the necessary games to pile up large amounts of losses. Beilein's winning% is 61% which is solid and it's 64% is you remove his first season. Compare that to Orr's 65% and Frieder's 68.7%.

I think I'm the only one that is hoping we wear regular jerseys when we have the chance. It would really show how confident this team is and has been for the last month. This game didn't turn anything around, we've been the best team in the Big Ten for a month now. Switching back would saying "These jerseys are nothing, we're just a great basketball team"

Saw that as well. Part asshole, part ignorant. We "chucked" 25 3's on our way to 75 points

As an Atlanta resident, it would be awesome for them to be in Greenville. But I would only be able to go to the Saturday game which would be against UNC and a very pro-UNC crowd. I do not think that mathcup would end well. For Michigan advancement reasons, being in the Midwest bracket with Kansas is our best shot.

Interesting looking through the Coaching candidates. The mid-major favorites from Brian were Todd Lickliter of Butler (unceremoniously fired by Iowa after 3 years), and Chris Lowery (Led SIU to 3 really good years then totally tailed off and eventually got fired by SIU).
Then there was Gregg Marshall pre-Wichita State who got a write-up, and Sean Miller who got a passing mention.

I know there's not really any good way to decide a 4-way tiebreak, but we really got shafted on this one. Only played Iowa and Northwestern on the road. MSU got Iowa and NW at home. Then NW got Iowa at home in a single play.
|3 weeks 4 hours ago||So basically the conclusion||
So basically the conclusion is that the best teams go to the final four and only really elite teams win the championship. Beilein's "fatal flaw" is that none of his teams except 2013 and 2014 were good enough to be Final Four teams. Although I can't look it up, I'm guessing Michigan 2014 missed out on 2 criteria. I don't think anyone would argue that we won't win a national championship without a much better defense than we have this year.
I did really enjoy the article though and will go back and look at it when the brackets come out.

You said meritocracy but I believe you meant mediocrity.
We are not the 8th best team in the conference so there's no point in repeating that over and over again because it proves your point (we tied for the 5th place). Michigan is 301st out of 350 on Kenpom's luck metric which basically means that our record is not really indicative of the way we've played this season. Ohio State is not "aboslute trash." That was a really bad game for us though but not in the realm of an unforgivable loss. And yes, consistently losing games that you played well in absolutely makes you a better team as opposed to a team that plays really bad and loses.
|3 weeks 6 hours ago||If you are worried about||
If you are worried about missing the tournament if we lose to Nebraska and our first game in the BTT, I think you should check out the current bubble right now. It is BAD. Our resume is far superior to these teams. Heck, Illinois is on the bubble now. And a bunch of other teams that have 1 or 2 top 50 RPI wins.

That's not a bad worst loss though.
|3 weeks 2 days ago||Well considering the fact||
Well considering the fact that Michigan went to a championship game and proceeded to lose a very close game I beleive it can be posited that a team outside the top 21 can win a championship. Same goes for 2015 Wisconsin that had almost identical AdjO and AdjD ranks to 2013 Michigan according to Kenpom.
|3 weeks 4 days ago||The 1 seed we want to play is||
The 1 seed we want to play is Kansas. They lose arly a lot, and are the ones that are actually grossly overated. They've had some crazy luck. Don't have huge athletes. Kenpom has them at 8th right now. Obviously still good, but weak for a 1 seed.

NBADraft.net is the Bleacher Report of NBA draft scouting. They basically live off of the fact that they got a great domain name. Their projections from multiple years out are rediculous sometimes. DraftExpress is the website to go to! They have great content.
Looking forward to Charles though!
