Michigan vs UConn (baseball)
So, no stream of the game, nor any audio coverage from Michigan. But there is audio from the UConn side here:

1-0 Michigan, early. Bases loaded, 1 out for the good guys. UConn's pitcher struggling with 1HBP, and 3 BB's.

Time to avenge the lone loss so far this season and keep that #1 ranking!

I feel bad for the UConn announcer. Apparently the game got moved to a different field (#2) because of the rain(??) but he couldn't set up his equipment there. He's calling the game from the main field press box while watching a Facetime stream of the game on his phone. This should be fun!

According to Michigan Baseball's Twitter (@umichbaseball) the move is due to construction. Not sure if it was a last minute move, or why they couldn't get set up in time.

There was major reconstruction of the main field (and clubhouse) over the winter and according to Met blogs earlier this week, it wasn’t quite finished. I believe the Mets play there tomorrow, so they may be doing the final touch-ups today.

I didn't know that; I was listening to the broadcast thinking, "Where'd they get this guy, the stands?"
February 21st, 2020 at 2:30 PM ^
They really need to get this UCONN pitcher out of the game. All sorts of walks, wild pitches, and just an overall lack of control leading to 3 first inning runs
February 21st, 2020 at 3:23 PM ^
No no, they can keep him in.
February 21st, 2020 at 2:31 PM ^
5-0 Michigan, bottom 1 with 2 outs. Starting pitcher for UConn just got pulled.
February 21st, 2020 at 2:34 PM ^
That was a rough outing, he can at least start off with telling people, who didn't watch or see the box score, that he only gave up one hit.

Reading this stresses me out. My kid's a pitcher and sometimes you just can't find your spots. Feel bad for the kid.
February 21st, 2020 at 5:18 PM ^
You're not kidding. I pitched through high school (worst "humblebrag" ever?) and can still remember the worst games I ever played like they were yesterday. Wild pitches, hit batters, walks, getting shelled, the works. Those are tough days, but you learn to move on.
Sometimes when you're on... (for those of you who were around here for the RichRod days)

I can totally relate Wendy! I love watching my boys play, but when they pitch....very stressful.

My sons a pitcher at a juco. Try watching it on GameChanger when he’s playing in Atlanta. You’ll literally hook up a gallon of whiskey to an iv drip. He just came back from tommy john last fall so this is a season filled with highs and lows thus far.

5-2 bottom 2. UConn took advantage of a HBP, a couple wild pitches, a throwing error, and a single to get two across in that frame.

6-2...Nwogu with a bomb!
February 21st, 2020 at 6:02 PM ^
I think he would be a helluva Viper.

OT: Michigan softball just squeaked out a 1-0 win over Liberty.

Big thanks to the OP for that live stat link. Q: (for anyone) is UConn any good at baseball?
February 21st, 2020 at 4:36 PM ^
Well they just beat the number 1 team in the nation on Sunday. So they must be pretty good.
February 21st, 2020 at 4:39 PM ^
NC State just beat Duke in basketball the other day, yet I’m not in a huge hurry to declare NCSU the next coming. Maybe someone with an answer more than snark has insight though.
February 21st, 2020 at 5:05 PM ^
They’re usually pretty decent. Above .500 regularly. Last year they made it to the regional finals before losing the deciding game to Oklahoma State.
February 21st, 2020 at 5:40 PM ^
TYVM. I’m out west, so I can tell you a bit about who’s good out here (pretty much everyone), but I’m not too savvy on the other regions. I’ll be the first to admit I lost track of M baseball during the dark days.
February 21st, 2020 at 5:11 PM ^
That's not snark, it's good information. Nobody called Uconn the next coming, but even in college baseball it says something if you're able to beat a top team. A quick search, for example, shows that UCLA went 52-11 last year, and that includes their losing the best-of-3 series against Michigan.
Of course, it's really early in the season, so nobody knows for sure yet one way or another.

Ok. That, I can work with. Maybe I’m just testy. Seems like everything on this site lately is “I know but I’m not saying” or something equally clever. Obviously, you aren’t somehow singlehandedly doing that. It seems like the days where we actually discussed things are few and far between.

Top 8, UConn just tied it up again 7-7...

Update: Michigan baseball started a periscope stream, here:

The UConn radio stream is a couple of batters ahead of the Periscope and the live stats.
Oups, UConn just got the lead 8-7 in the top of the 9th. Double & single to lead off.
February 21st, 2020 at 5:36 PM ^
Damn...Michigan got a runner on in the bottom of the 9th but couldn't capitalize. UConn wins game 1, 8-7.
February 21st, 2020 at 5:38 PM ^
Bummer. Losing 8-7 is a lot better than losing 7-1 like last week, though. Fingers crossed for the rest of the series.

I guess Uconn should be ranked #1
