Michigan on TV (out-of-state)

Submitted by turbo cool on

With only 12 days until opening day I just want this to be made clear for my dumbass. How do I get all the Michigan games on TV? Goto comcast and ask for the Big Ten Network? I unfortunately live on the east coast and am subject to the ACC and Big East.. so i'll pay whatever to watch the maize and blue.

please help a fan in need.

yea, DirecTV is the way to go. Channel numbers: Everything is on either abc(local numbers vary with market), ESPN (206), ESPN2 (209) or BTN (610). Also, I am VERY happy with my service...the HD is allegedly better than cable's HD (according to Crutchfield) and there are more HD channels on DirecTV than on any other provider. All the channels are digital (not just the ones over #100), so even if there is a channel not available in HD, it doesn't just plain look like shit...quality (incl. the sound) is pretty impressive...hope that helps :)

p.s. I don't have stock or anything in DirecTV, lol, i'm just honestly a very happy customer...more for your money (and yes, I was an economics major)....don't even get me started on how much i love my TiVo.

Priority order for Michigan games

1) Game will be on national TV on ABC (night games, OSU), ESPN, or ESPN2

2) If Game is regional ABC, it will be shown on ESPN or ESPN2 in "outside the region" areas

3) Game is on BTN

There is no need to get ESPN Gameplan; every Michigan game will be on TV, someway or another.

You have DirecTV.  You don't have a problem, unless BTN was moved to the sports pack (that it's in the 600s makes me think that might have happened, I don't really know though since I already ordered the sports pack anyways) and you don't already have the sports pack.  Try channel 610 and see if it works.

As to the regional games on ABC, if the Michigan game isn't on ABC in your area it must be on ESPN or ESPN2, per the Big 10's contract.  At least for conference games, and possibly for the other ones ABC shows involving the Big 10.

If you know someone living in Michigan you could send them a Slingbox. For $200 you won't have to do anything to your cable, and you'll never have to buy some crazy season ticket package. Yeah you have to watch it on your computer, but for football its not too bad.

How about going to a bar on the few days when you have BTN only games?  I personally am a fan of the pour house in DC.  That way, in stead of spending money on extra cable service, you can spend it on beer.

If you have Dish/DirecTV, AT&T U-verse, Verizon FIOS, and a few others you're good to go, as the BTN is already carried.

If you have Comcast, it depends.  It's free on the digital tier now for states within the big ten footprint.  For outside the footprint, I direct you to Stadium and Main:

According to Nick @ S&M (ummm.....), BTN will be added to the sports tier on the East Coast.  You may have to contact customer service, or even a local/regional rep, for info on your area, but I would bet it's also sports tier anywhere outside the footprint.

Check the BTN website for other carriers.  Also, note that some carriers do not offer BTN in HD.
