Michigan State Snowflakes: The Officiating

Submitted by JHumich on October 30th, 2021 at 4:51 PM

Couldn't find an "official" thread.

I have too many specific ones for a good "OP," but with a snowdrift of my own figured that people needed a good place to put their snowflakes too.

Score TDs instead of FGs and officiating doesn't matter. And don't waste 3/4 of the game giving away plays on wasted runs when it's clear that the opposing defense can't stop any form of pass play until they have you in a must-pass situation.

Had State loss this game I guarantee that their fans would be complaining about the refs as well. Every single fanbase does this because fans don’t know how to be objective, especially during defeat. That’s human nature.

We can complain about a couple of controversial calls that didn’t go our way, but if we were to pick the film apart I’m sure that we could find a couple of calls that did go our way. Which is always going to be the case when there’s so many snaps during a football game and exactly why each fan base cries every time they lose because they only know how to focus on the calls that didn’t go their way. It’s eye rolling because it happens every freaking game.

People in this thread are actually talking about all the reviews that went State’s way. Well maybe that’s because they should have? Reed’s catches were catches. Should those have not been called in State’s favor? We can complain about the strip sack, but to me it looked like he still had the ball when his shin was down. My eyes weren’t agreeing with what Fox’s crew was trying to sell. None of the other reviews were even questionable.

Certainly many reasons for the loss, but the refs certainly didn't seem even handed.  We should have professional refs, but since they don't seem willing to go down that path there needs to be transparency.  Make the refs face media questions and make the league review of the refs available.  Would like to hear why the ref overturned the strip sack call and would like to hear what the league review of that play concludes.  Obviously, the refs wouldn't like this.

MSU needed every call and every bounce to go their way and it did. Every 50/50 call regardless of call on the field went their way. Michigan just about never gets an officiating advantage in a close game it seems. One thing goes different and they win going away. Super sick of this shit.

The one on Johnson  on 4th down is the other big one. Both state guys in involved actually committed penalties. The one ran into him initially and the other guy just flat out held him after. State had no defenders behind Johnson, so probably not even just a first down if he catches it but a td as well.

Uof〽️ didn’t just lose because of the refs, it didn’t help with score.

Blake Corum dropped pass in the first half was probably a TD he had allot of running room.
