Michigan re-offers 2016 DT Rashan Gary from Paramus Catholic
There are many reasons this is interesting.
He's 6'4" 285 lb consensus 5 star.
He's the one of the (if not the) top player in the country in 2016.
He has family in Michigan.
He goes to Paramus Catholic which gave us Jabrill Peppers as well as Juwan Bushell-Beatty.
The coach for Jabrill and Juwan recently became a college coach and was replaced by Blake Costanzo.
Blake's picture in his playing days.
His coach was Jim Harbaugh.
I like our chances.

Official offers cannot be extended until August for 2016 prospects. So all of the conversations going on right now for them involve unofficial offers. Harbaugh and his coaches have been telling the 2016 prospects that their offers from Hoke no longer apply and that each prospect will have to receive an offer from the current regime.
In other words, just because Brady Hoke said he wants Rashan Gary, it does not mean that Michigan circa 2015 wants Rashan Gary...until now.

I watched his film yesterday, and was totally impressed, but I like him at DE if he can keep his weight where it is at now. With his motor, ability to shed blocks, and sure-hande tackling ability, he could totally secure one side of the field and terrorize QB's.

Yeah, Ed Oliver has some pretty darn impressive film.

Rutgers has actually done a decent job of pulling in home-state talent the past few years - Nadir Barnwell, Darius Hamilton, Quanzell Lambert, Savon Huggins, Miles Shuler, Marquise Wright, etc. They could do better, and not all of those guys have been studs. But I have been surprised that some of those guys haven't been pulled away by out-of-state schools. The same thing goes for Maryland.
I don't think Gary will end up at Rutgers, though.

... make me really look forward to the 2016 class. Of course, this fall's games should be pretty good, too.
