Nice to avoid the night game seeing as last time we went to Lincoln at night it was a clencher. I assumed one of at Nebraska and at Minnesota would have been night games.  It's a pretty lackluster week in the big ten so I don't think any other games will be flexed. MSU v Iowa has the best chance.

Maryland @ OSU on Peacock is a surprisingly big game for that network.  I sort of expected the Rutgers and MSUs of the world to wind up there but a big player like OSU is interesting.

If this schedule holds, every B1G team except Nebraska & Indiana will have a Peacock game.

I figured that greedy Peacock/NBCU would try to hit up and monetize all 14 B1G teams.  But 12 is pretty darn close.

---------------

Here's a TV fact: Every B1G team has to have at least 1 conference game on BTN annually.  OSU/Rutgers has been the only Buckeye conference game to appear on BTN from 2016 (!) onwards, except for Northwestern in 2019, which was only moved to BTN because of a baseball conflict on FS1.

Anyway, I'm sure Rutgers will be OSU's BTN game yet again in 2023.  That's essentially Rutgers' role in the conference: (bad) BTN content.

Makes sense.  It's more that I was surprised that a game involving both Maryland and OSU, which could very well feature 2 undefeated teams (OSU does have to go to ND and Maryland does go to MSU but both teams should be favored in those contests), could wind up on the bird.  My guess is if they are both undefeated it'll be shifted to Fox but still a good game for the streamer if it stays; that'll get actual eyeballs instead of the UM-ECU game that's basically a glorified scrimmage.

I didn't know that about OSU re: BTN; I could have sworn their opening-season game in 2021 against Minnesota was on BTN but I checked and it was Fox.

I agree, Maryland could be undefeated.  But I think MD/OSU is 100% going to Peacock, no matter what.  Peacock is definitely rooting for Maryland to be as good as possible.

Peacock definitely wants 1 OSU game.  The B1G won't piss off a TV partner, they'll get one.  Everyone else wants some Buckeye games too, of course.  The slots seem to be pre-mapped: NBC twice (Wisc, MSU), CBS once (IU), FOX three times (Purdue, U-M and 99% likely PSU), BTN once (Rutgers).

Minnesota in Week 12 is still open - but Peacock looks like they hit their 9 game limit by then.  Thus it's Maryland.

-----------

Back in 2007, the 1st year of BTN, there was a #19 Wisconsin at #1 Ohio State mid-season game that landed on BTN.  That was BTN's best matchup of 2007 from a rankings perspective.  It was a big story at the time (I was living in Ohio).

The game served its purpose.  It got BTN on more cable packages.

This game strikes me the same way.  A very-good-but-not-top-level game that will be the best B1G matchup on Peacock all year.  And it will get Peacock more subscribers.

Correct - the noon EDT start times - are 11:00 am local contests against - Nebraska, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, Illinois, and Northwestern - most of the West Division teams.

And, looking forward to the future - when USC, UCLA, Oregon, and Washington join the conference next year - I expect any west coast game to either be the 3:30 pm or 7:30 pm EDT starts.   I do not expect any B1G games involving a non Pacific Coast team to be the evening PDT time slot.

Awesome to see that game at noon, love the Fox coverage . Side note also cool to see my local school Cincy get a Big Noon game against Oklahoma.

Also are to able to watch games on Peacock if you don’t have Peacock? Like those games aren’t available on NBC correct? Im hoping Michigan stays with the Fox coverage cause I love Gus and Klatt, and really don’t wanna pay for another streaming service.

For me, Xfinity tied free Peacock to the higher speed internet tiers this summer. I was already a subscriber at that tier, so it was a petit lagniappe.

Does anyone know if CFB games on Peacock will be available on demand after they air?  I typically time shift games using the exceptional YTTV cloud DVR service.  A Peacock subscription isn't much use if I can't access the game later.

Congrats!  My daughter was born 11-20-99 the day Michigan beat Ohio State.

My son was born 10-5-2002 the day Michigan beat Penn St.  They both waited until after the game and I was able to watch both games from the wife's hospital room!

May you have the same good fortune!  Here is to a happy and healthy mom and baby!

Just one suggestion - if I may - with the pink on the socks, I assume your little one is a girl.

So, look for a cheerleading outfit - when she grows older - and, go to a game.  One of my favorite pics of our children is - a pic at a Michigan v Northwestern game - they're probably seven years old - our daughter's in a Michigan cheerleader jumper and our son's wearing a #16 - Denard Robinson jersey.   That pic is on the wall in my home office.

Again - congratulations - enjoy every day with that little one - they grow quickly...

Peacock (and all individual subscription-based streaming channels) needs to get out of sports.  If only there was an industry that could somehow collect all of these individual channels, bundle them together, and provide them to consumers at a cost lower than that charged if one were to sign up for each channel's paid service...

NittanyFan

"provide them to consumers at a lower cost."

Pfffffffffffffffffft.  Whose side are you on here buddy?!?!?!?  These executives need to live somewhere, and have you seen the cost of living in Bel Air these days?

-------------

On a side note: FOX has definitely shown themselves to be (thus far) committed to the Linear TV model as regards sports.  NBCU, Apple and CBS/Paramount are on the other side: sports are content to drive subscriptions.   WBD and ESPN are a bit more TBD: the upcoming NBA contract will tell a lot as regards their longer-term strategy.

We'll see who wins, but not everybody is fully on-board with the streaming model.

On a slight tangent - a quick look at the preseason rankings - and - matchups between ranked teams.  The entire season looks like this - a total of 38 games between teams ranked in the preseason.  I don't know if 38 is an "average" number - but, it seems like it's later in September / October before things really warm up - and a real lack of ranked OOC matchups in the first three weeks of the season.
