Michigan men's soccer blanks Valparaiso 1-0
"Despite gusting winds that affected play, the Michigan men’s soccer team beat Valparaiso, 1-0, Monday night.
Freshman midfielder Francis Atuahene continued his torrid scoring pace with his 10th goal of the season, providing the Wolverines the only tally they needed. Atuahene struck in the 50th minute off a crisp pass from senior forward William Mellors-Blair."

It was mine too. And then once I got there and made varsity, I realized that college soccer is sooooooooooooooooo much different than club soccer. Not as much fun as club - all driven about winning at all costs, need to play scholarship players - even if walk-ons or partial scholy payers are performing better. I played frosh year and then got injured.
I will admit that the program is much better now than when I played (2001) and the resources and exposure is much more prestigious than in the past. Hopefully it continues and we become annual contenders to win the B1G like Indiana.

You coulda played on the club team instead and we could've been teammates! Plus, no pressure, no schollies and I can't really appropriately relay the sort of road-trip shenanigans you may have been privy to. Agreed, hopefully the varsity squad continues that upward trajectory.

Yea, I know Gavlick quite well from our college days and have even hung out with Rob in Chicago once or twice (in a large group of Wolverines), both real good dudes. If you hung with Gav, you probably have a good sense of the fun I referenced. Shoot, I was in Kelsey house as well, you could've lived in my old room if you were on the 9000 floor. Small world indeed.

Atuahene is starting to look like the most dynamic scorer we've seen in A2 since the magical Saad/Meram season. Been very encouraged by his play.

I'd say it's a possibility, for sure. I think Louro is gone for sure, unfortunately.

I'm pretty hopeful about basketball this year. We returned most of our good players, so we should be dancing, and if we can ge in the 13-10 seed range we'll have a great shot.
