Looks like the board for Bigs is expanding as Michigan offers Kyle Filipowski. He's been mentioned on Matt's front page BBall posts in the past and he's had some really positive things to say about him.

While he's not currently being pursued by Michigan, the best overall performance in Scranton came from 2022 Kyle "Flip" Filipowski of the New York Rens (Nike EYBL). He displayed a tantalizing combination of size + skill at 6'10 with the ability to stretch the floor from distance, while being an excellent playmaker for others off the bounce. This is the definition of negligence by mainstreams. Ranking him in the 90-120 range is just plain bad. He has entered my database as a 5-star prospect and I wouldn't mind the staff pursuing should we strike out on Lively/Clingan.

Sounds like he would be an awesome get if he ends up being part of the class. This may also be a testament to how things look with the other options on the board.

Definitely an interesting development. Seems like we've turned things up with Tarris Reed too and he's visiting soon. I'm not sure what this means with Clingan, but it could also be more representative of Diabate's plan to definitely be a OaD?

Would love to grab Flip though if he's not a Duke lock. He kinda reminds me of a combo of the Wagner brothers

Good. I want Tarris Reed because I think he's underrated/underranked. I like Clingan but I prefer Reed over him.

And I'm glad we finally offered Kyle Filipowski but I hope it's not too little too late.

I also want to echo MattEM's thoughts on Cam Whitmore. I firmly believe we should offer him and make him our #1 target at the SF position. He's GROSSLY underrated/underranked. He looks like one of those players that will make the NBA and everyone will wonder why/how he was rated outside the top 100. Just from watching his recent highlight tapes, it's crystal clear to me that he's a tier above in athleticism (like most pro players are). I like him waaaaay more than the other options we're pursuing at his position who should not be ranked ahead of Whitmore.

Some weeks ago, I wrote something to the effect of "If there are truly 100ish players better than Tarris Reed in this class, then this will be the greatest recruiting class to date." I tried to sardonically suggest that Reed is severely underrated. I feel the same way about Whitmore. If people were to re-rank the classes as the players are right now, I'm reasonably confident that Whitmore would be in the top 40 (with a chance at the top 25 / 5 star range).

I think what it means to me is that unless you are a sure fire elite talent, Howard isn’t gonna sit around and wait for you. Jalen Duren, for example, would have a spot no matter when he wanted on board. Others are mixed in there together but are all options.

I have been on the 'offer Flip' bandwagon since Matt posted his video...kid really has a feel for the game imo...really excellent distributor of the ball.

I have heard the Duke connection is very strong though...but that was before Coach K put in his succession plan.

Not sure it its a sign of where things with Clingan and Lively stand per se (mainly because Filip is pretty highly thought of and isn't a 'below the radar' player), though it could be... i think it makes sense to offer a few other targets or at least expanding the board more as time moves on and players show out in summer league...this very well could be what we are seeing

Tarris Reed is reportedly (but not a 100% reliable source) coming for a visit this week. He had an offer, but that looks like preparing to move on from Clingan.

Imo, Lively is as much as a pipe dream as Duren. If I had to guess, Filipowski got the offer now because he showed some interest. He is obviously good enough to be a plan A recruit. Something may be slowing down his expected commitment to Duke. I could see Duke waiting on Lively.

I think pushing for a big in the early signing period is a wise move. They will likely need more than one. Scrambling for two in the spring could be a mess. Center seems to be the toughest position to fill from the portal. The only shot they have with Lively is late in the process, after it's clear that Hunter is leaving.

I always thought a strong football and basketball program should recruit together. This isnt the Pistons and Lions this is one University. Have combined camps and social events. Bring in the Fab 5 woodson Tom Brady for a yearly BBALL football BBQ and invite the 5 stars and other top recruits. Seriously how is this not a thing?

If i did a list with those 4 that would be spot on.  I am just not high on Clingan at all and i have the downvotes to prove it.  I also do not like the comparison to Dickinson.  Dickinson is/was far more skilled.  Clingan is just big.

And the polish gunner can shoot.  He has an amazing stroke.  I would love for Michigan to pursue him extremely hard.
