Look, I don't like the way Izzo has handled some bad off-the-court stuff and I don't like the way he treats players during games.  But you can't argue with his coaching success.  They've been in the tournament for like 23 straight seasons or something crazy and he's hung a ton of banners.  Go ahead and hate him for all the right reasons - but "success" is not one of them.

The most perplexing part of his formula is how he gets high 4 and 5 stars to come to MSU, after they see the last crop of high 4 and 5 stars underperform their rankings, stick around for 5 years with a significant amount of time spent backing up weird guys who walked on, and not getting drafted.

I scratched my head at this, while Beilein's teams were sweating out the departure of less heralded recruits who were expected to go as lottery picks or early in the first round.

No real issue with any of the teams ahead of us. Kansas has two losses, both to top 4 teams (even though the Texas was a blowout). They have wins over WV, Creighton, Texas Tech, Oklahoma. If we come out of this week with a pair of top 25 wins, we should probably approach the top 5.

Agreed---winning takes care of everything. The back half of our schedule is road-heavy which will be tough in this conference.  With 15 games to go, you have to figure a 10-5, 11-4 finish gets us to at minimum at #2 seed if not higher.

Go blue....can't wait to see how this team plays it out.

Think the way we took down Minnesota - a complete thrashing - was a huge eye opener for any remaining skeptics regarding the depth of Michigan's team on both ends of the floor.  A convincing win against the Badgers would further solidify the growing consensus that we may have the best team in the BIG.

Food for thought, of the six teams ranked above us, the only one we haven't beaten in our most recent game was Iowa, though we did beat them last year. Kansas, Gonzaga, Texas, and Villanova all lost their most recent match up to Michigan. And if you wanna include Creighton who's right behind us, we've beaten them most recently too.

(from the research I've done, we've never played Baylor. Correct me if I'm wrong though)

Calipari helped Juwan with Martelli, and openly saying how good of hire it was, and how he will help him however he can, yet now Kentucky is nowhere to be found, which is a shame.  I've always liked him and wanted him to coach here.

What isn't a shame is Izzo and MSU are also nowhere to be found...   and gotta think Izzo will retire soon when they fall too far behind.

Duke at 19.

There might be a changing of the guard this upcoming decade... with Gonzaga and Michigan among the new big boys.
